The population of Walton swelled
by 29 on Monday when Bill and
Marjorie Humphries hosted visitors
from the St. Agatha area. Daughter
Peggy, who is the manager of the
Kids Link program at the Children’s
Mental Health Centre in St. Agatha,
brought her Junior 2 students (11-
12) and the Primary Is (6-7) to visit
McGavin Farm Equipment.
Jeff McGavin and Roger
Humphries were the tour guides
around the building and explained
about the different machinery.
The children had plenty of
questions for them and they were
really excited. The children were all
given the chance to ride around the
yard in a tractor and they were
thrilled. They went to Bill and
Marjorie’s to have lunch and
returned to St. Agatha later.
Did you see the beautiful colours
in the sky on Thursday evening? The
Northern Lights were spectacular
with the red spikes of colour cutting
through the early eveni ng sky. I was
glad I was able to witness the
sight.
Congratulations to Jamie and
Jolene McNichol as they have
welcomed a son to their family.
Halloween has come and gone as
have the treats at my house. In the
country, we don’t have many trick or
treaters, but the seven we had were
really cute.
It was birthday party time for
Peggy Humphries’s and a special
birthday it was. Gathering at Bill and
Marjorie Humphries home were
other family members including
Paul Humphries, London; Greg and
Andrea with children Alexandria
and Colin, London; Susan and Hugh
Nichol with Josh, Cody, Stefan and
friend Rose.
On Saturday evening, the Chesley
Saddle Club held its year-end get-
together at the Walton Hall. They
enjoyed a potluck meal and dealt
with the club’s business. A social
evening followed.
Local members include Judy
Emmrich, Don Ruttan and Anne
Halley.
Celebrating his 60th birthday that
evening was John Green of Green’s
Meats.
Neil McDonald was home for a
visit for just a few days last week
with Leona McDonald and Rick
McDonald family. Here at the same
time were Charlie and Karin
Calhoun who also enjoyed a visit
with family members.

FROM WALTON
Acorns
dress up
The Walton Little School Acorn
class enjoyed dressing in their
Halloween costumes parading
through the building, visiting the
other classes and handing out treats.
They read lots of spooky stories,
sang Halloween songs and had their
faces painted.
They made their own book titled
The Night Before Halloween. The
children were the authors and
illustrators and they were very
proud of their book. They all took
turns reading it to the class when it
was finished.

Those attending Duff’s United
Church, Sunday, were welcomed to1
service by Leona McDonald.
Rev. Joan Tuchlinsky is off for
health reasons and Gloria Wilbee
was the guest speaker. She
welcomed everyone to the service
and continued with the
announcements. This is a big week
for the members of the church as it is
the big annual turkey dinner on
Wednesday at the BM&G arena.
There are still books by Rev. Swan
available and all donations for them
will go to purchasing more hymn
books.
Duff’s unified board meeting is
next Thursday, Nov. 13 at 8 p.m.
The service continued with an
anthem by the senior choir entitled
As the Deer Pants for the Water. The
scripture reading was by Jackie
Glanville.
The time for the Young at Heart
was entitled The Devil Made Me Do
It. The story explained how all have
good and bad within them. When
tempted people have the power to
make the right choice.
Mrs. Wilbee sang Let the Sun
Shine In and gave the children a
treat.
The reflection was entitled. Let
There Be Love, which is the title of
a song by Amy Grant which Mrs.
Wilbee performed for the
congregation. Her reflection
revolved about living faith and how
through dark times people sometime
blame God.
The collection was taken by
Murray Dennis and Brian Wilbee.
With a new month are new
members helping to make the church
run smoothly. Taking collection are
Howard Hackwell and Fred
McClure and greeting this week are
Ian and Mark Wilbee. Church
responsibilities will be handled by
Barry and Karen Hoegy.
