Hunking hosts Walkerburn Club The Walkerburn club met at Pat Hunking's on Oct. 27 with 11 members present.’ Ethel Ball opened with a reading. Those Who Were Kids in the 30s - It’s a Wonder We Ever Survived. Vera Penfound followed with a reading Things to be Thankful For. Betty Archambault read the minutes of the last meeting which was followed by roll call. Bernice Norman gave the treasurer’s report. Betty Archambault will remain the secretary with Eileen McChnchey as assistant. Bernice Norman will remain as treasurer. Deanna Snell and Jacquie McKee are the new co­ presidents. Mrs. Archambault asked for a show of hands in appreciation of Mrs. Ball and Mrs. Penfound being co-presidents for the past 12 years. The next meeting to be held on Nov. 12 at Jacquie McKee’s with Mrs. Norman providing lunch and Mrs. McClinchey the program. There will be a miscellaneous sale with all proceeds going to the Salvation Army. There will also be a collection of items for the Christmas Bureau. Mrs. Hunking finished the meeting with Thankful Hearts, Halloween and It’s That Time of Year Again, followed by a game of bingo on Thanksgiving and Halloween. 18 tables at euchre Auburn’s Women’s Institute dessert and card party was held on Oct. 30. It was a big success with 18 tables of cards being played. The greatly appreciated proceeds of the day were donated to the 150th celebration. Winners were: high lady, Freda Scott; high man. Clarence Allin; second with lady, Jean Nethery; and second high, Kay Konarski; lone hands, Eppie Lawrence, Audrey Walsh. After dessert comes cards The Auburn Women’s Institute hosted a dessert and euchre tournament on Oct. 30. The guests first enjoyed a delicious piece of pie then a good game of euchre after. All proceeds will go towards the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Auburn. After just finishing their dessert and starting a friendly game of Euchre are left, Jewel Plunkett, June Patterson, Bernice McClinchey and Kay Hesselwood. Lois Haines went to Mississauga with Margaret and Ron Livermore to help celebrate Lois’s great- grandson’s first birthday party. At Knox United Church Rev. Pat Cook’s message was on holding on and letting go. The readings were from The Old Testament. Ruth 1:1- 18 and Mark 12: 28-34. Happy birthday to Hebo Siertsema. The Auburn Lions Club meeting is on Nov. 5 at the Auburn Community Hall at 7:15 p.m. Those who have fallen in war will be remembered on Nov. 11 with two minutes of silent reflection. Also reflect on those men and women who are presently upholding our freedom and the freedom for others. Support your local legion by wearing a poppy on Nov. 11 Remembrance Day. Donations accepted. Fourteen members attended. A very nice lunch was served by Maxine followed by the meeting. The next meeting will be held in November and will be the Christmas meeting. The date will be announced at a later date. Any person who on Voting Day meets the following qualifications is eligible to vote: 1. Is a Canadian citizen. 2. Is at least 18 years old on Voting Day. 3. Resides in the municipality or is the owner, tenant, or spouse, or same sex partner of the owner or tenant of land. 4. Any person not prohibited by law from voting. VOTE BY MAIL For the 2003 Election the 'Vote by Mail" method will be used: • A Voter's Kit, including a Ballot, will be mailed to all electors on the current Voter's List: • Ballots should be 'return' mailed to the Municipal Office by November 3, 2003 to ensure delivery to the Municjpal Office by November 10, 2003; however it you are unable to do so... • There will be drop off locations for ballots, as listed below: 1. Municipality of Morris-Turnberry Municipal Office - 41342 Morris Road from October 21, 2003 regular office hours until November 10, 2003 at 8 pm; and the 2. Turnoerry Works Garage 65 Bee-Line Rd. - Election Day - November 10, 2003 9 am until 6 pm. A Voting Kit will be mailed directly to each person who nUeets the above qualifications, as an elector in the Municipality of Morris-Turnberry, on or about October 20, 2003. If you are an eligible voter and do not receive a Voter's Kit you can apply for one at the Municipal Office A Voting Kit consists of the following: a) A "postage paid" return envelope. b) A declaration form with the name, roll # and qualifying address of the individual to whom the ballot is assigned. c) A secrecy envelope. d) A ballot. e) Instructions to electors.
