The Citizen, 2003-11-05, Page 9Halloween Fear Factor style Ghosts, goblins, witches and princesses were among the many guests at the Belgrave Kinsmen’s children’s Halloween dance on Nov. 1 at the Belgrave arena. In the spirit of Halloween, a Fear Factor table was set up with different foods for the children. There was horseradish, fried mushrooms and many more. PAGE 9 Belgrave United Church held a Hymns at Twilight Evening on Sunday afternoon Oct. 26. Their guests were members of Northlea United Church in Toronto. The Belgrave Community Foodgrains project of harvesting corn crops, plus funds donated by 6 tables at WI euchre Six tables of euchre were in play on Wednesday, Oct. 29 in the Women’s Institute Hall. Peter and Mrs. Nancy Tucker of Elliott Lake spent a few days with Mabel Wheeler during which time they travelled to Watkins Glen, New York. Congratulations is extended from the community to Eldon and Lorraine Cook who recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends at the Brussels arena. Murray and Wilma Scott recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. The community extends congratulations. The Garniss Family Award presented every year at F.E. Madill commencement night is given to a resident of the Belgrave area who has exhibited good school citizenship and contributed positively to the community through involvement in community activities. This year’s recipients were Scott Folkard who is attending Conestoga College’s Civil Engineering Program and Laura Meier, studying kinesiology at the University of Waterloo. Congratulations are extended to Mark Hussey and Sarah Buckley Procters host 3rd Thousand Dinner The third annual Belgrave Night of a Thousand Dinners will be held in the form of a potluck dinner at the home of George and Elizabeth Procter; Belgrave on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 6:30 p.m. This is part of a worldwide effort to raise awareness and funds to rid the world of landmines. It costs just $3 to plant a landmine, and $1,000 to remove one. Your donation can make a difference. All donors will receive a tax deductible charitable receipt directly from the Canadian Landmines Foundation, and all donations will be matched dollar for dollar by CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency). The goal of eliminating landmines is achievable in this lifetime. Every step taken in support of the Canadian Landmine Foundation is a move closer to a landmine-free world. Mark's parents Marian and Dale and sisters Melinda and Melina were able to attend. Melinda lives in London, England. A reception followed at The Rose and Crown, Darton, England. The couple resides in Goderich. Ross and Barbara Anderson, Les and Donna Shaw and Bill and Muriel Coultes attended the memorial service in Brampton for Herman Storteboom, who is the father of Klaas and Alice Storteboom. Herman passed away 16 days after celebrating his 100th birthday. Sincere sympathy is extended from the community to Klaas and Alice on the loss of a dear father. George Wheeler, Truro, Nova Scotia, visited with Mabel Wheeler on the weekend.
