Obituaries
E. AILEEN MUTTER
Aileen Mutter, formerly of
Brussels, now of Listowel, passed
away Oct. 24, 2003 at Listowel
Memorial Hospital. She was 74.
The daughter of the late Melvin
and Edith (Eckmier) Gilkinson was
bom March 15, 1929 in Grey Twp.
She married George A. Mutter, who
survives her.
Mrs. Mutter was a volunteer for
the Canadian Diabetes Association
for over 15 years.
She was a member of Knox
Presbyterian Church.
She was the loved mother of
Karen Chambers and Ted Weishar of
Teeswater, Harold and Brenda
Mutter of Wasaga Beach and Paul
and Barb Mutter of Brussels. Mrs.
Mutter will also be lovingly
remembered by seven grandchildren
and one great-granddaughter. She
was the dear sister of Eldon

hushed by the disciples, the blind
man is questioned by Jesus, “What
is it that you want of me?” and when
he answers that he wants to see, his
wish is granted because of his great
faith. “Tliat is the question that we
must ask with faith,” said Rev.
Campbell, “ and we can expect an
answer to our quest.”

predeceased her.
Visitation was held at the Robert
Trench Funeral Home, Listowel on
Sunday afternoon and evening. The
funeral service was held on Monday,
Oct. 27 at 11 a.m. Rev. John Zondag
officiated.
Interment was at Harriston
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeff Mutter, Tim
Mutter, Trevor Chambers, Scott
Chambers, Curtis Mutter and Kevin
Mutter.
Carrying floral tributes were
Angela Miller, Laura Chambers and
Jennifer Mutter.
Memorial remembrances to the
Diabetes Association, the Kidney
Foundation and Listowel Memorial
Hospital Circle of Care would be
appreciated.
The offering was gathered by Jeff
Cardiff, Maurice Douma, Brian
Armstrong and Doug McArter.

Like Beckham. This explores
parent-child issues and the use of
gifts and talents.
On Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m.
Helen Elliott hosts the first Bible
Study of this term with the book of
Matthew as our topic.

new hours effective Nov. 1.
The Blyth library will be open
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 5
p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The library will
be closed for a dinner break from 5
to 6 p.m. Saturdays you can visit the
library between 1 and 4 p.m.
The Brussels Library will be open
Tuesdays and Thursdays as well
from 1 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. New
Saturday hours are from 10 a.m. to 1
p.m.
You can renew your books for one
week at any branch regardless of
where they were signed out, or, over
the telephone at 523-4400 (Blyth) or
887-6448 (Brussels).
Now that all branches are
automated books can be returned at
any Huron County Branch Library.
Residents can also request any book
in the county and pick it up at the

Guild meeting
The October meeting of the
Melville Guild was held in the church
parlour on Tuesday evening, Oct. 21
with 12 members present.
Jean Bewley opened the meeting
with the call-to worship and Thank We
All Our God was sung. Dona Knight
read a poem, God’s Blessings and the
scripture Psalm 100 was read in
unison.
Mrs. Bewley led in prayer and the
topic Thanksgiving was read by Mrs.
Knight.
Give Thanks My Soul for Harvest
was sung and the Mizpah Benediction
was repeated in unison.
Leona Armstrong presided over the
business. The minutes of the
September meeting were read and
approved. The treasurer’s report was
read by Jeanne Kirkby.
The roll call was answered with
each member telling what they are
thankful for.
There was a discussion on making
the desserts for the Optimist Harvest
Stag to be held on Nov. 14.
