On Tuesday the fed steers and heifers sold at prices $8 to $10 high­ er. The cows sold on a steady mar­ ket. On Thursday the veal sold on a steady market while the lambs sold on a good active trade at prices $2 to $5 higher. On Friday the calves sold at prices $2 to $3 higher while the yearlings sold steady to last week on a strong active trade. There were 360 steers on offer selling from $75 to $85 with sales to $91.50. Clarence Dekens, Clinton, consigned one red steer weighing 1,230 lbs. which sold to Norwich Packers for $91.50. One black steer consigned by Murray Shiell, Wingham, weighed 1,305 lbs. which sold to Norwich Packers for $90. His overall offering of twenty-five steers averaged 1,426 lbs. selling for an average price of $80.88. Dave Bender, Palmerston, consigned two limousin steers averaging 1,303 lbs. which sold for $86.50. One red steer consigned by Art Bos, Blyth, weighed 1,365 lbs. which sold to Norwich Packers for $85. Seventeen steers consigned by Cunningham Farms, Lucan, aver­ aged 1,514 lbs. selling for an aver­ age price of $81.60 with their top charolais steer weighing 1,430 lbs. selling to Norwich Packers for $86.50. Roll call was “Give an important tip on microwave cooking”. Members decided on a cover page and name for the club, Eggstrodinary Chics. In the kitchen members made chicken, apple and almond stir-fry, peanut butter brownies, Alaska baked bounty and Canadian country pie. The Eggstrodinary Chics met for their fourth and final meeting of the Great Chicken and Egg project. The vice-president started the meeting with the 4-H pledge and continued with the reading of the minutes from the last meeting. “Suggest a use for leftovers from eggs - egg shells, egg cartons, etc.” The Seaforth Agricultural Society presents: The Restructured 2004 Seaforth Calf Club With the changing of a few rules and the addition of a new class, the Seaforth Calf Club will be holding an information night on Sunday November the 2nd at 7:30 p.m. at the Seaforth Agri-Plex. They read about making crepes and meringue. After the reading they went into the kitchen and made some eggeited crafts. They had fun blowing out the contents of an egg, then dying the shells many different colours. Then they did some cooking.
