As mentioned, the youth of Walton and Bluevale churches and area took part in a 24-hour fast at Walton Church. They began fasting Saturday morning and had water, juice and broth to carry them through until Sunday morning. They did raking, played games, held discussion groups and generally had a good time. Sleeping on the floor was somewhat of a hardship but emphasized that many others suffer greater hardships than that. The youth gathered pledges and donations and raised over $700 for the mission and service fund. The UCW provided lunch after church of soup, sandwiches and squares.
