Hope you had all your family home for the holidays too. Residents were in Ethel on Saturday, Oct. 11 to help celebrate Lawson and Muriel Ward’s 60th wedding anniversary. Yvonne McTaggart was their flowergirl. Jack and Donna Knight visited Joanne, Weldon, Andrew and Allison Black for Thanksgiving. Forty-two people from Clinton and Brussels area travelled by bus to the Sanderson Centre in Brantford to hear the Fabulous Crooners. This outing was planned by members of the Huronview Auxiliary. The Galaxy All-Star Orchestra performed as well as male soloists and the four member vocal group (two female and two male singers) The Stardust Serenaders. Churches were celebrating their anniversaries on Sunday including Knox Presbyterian Church, Cranbrook and Melville Presbyterian Church in Brussels. With good food at both there was no need to cook on Sunday. Don’t forget to attend Huronlea’s 10th anniversary open house Wednesday, Oct. 22. WMS studies Proverbs Eleanor Stevenson was hostess for the Cranbrook WMS meeting. Madeline Steiss was leader and opened with a poem, September, about the autumn of the year which brings the harvesting of nature’s crops. Scripture reading was taken from Proverbs 4: 1-11. Mrs. Steiss next read from a paper, Life’s Lessons which teaches that giving love to others is the most important lesson in life. Mrs. Stevenson gave a humorous reading entitled School Excuses. Donna Knight read from a paper on Malawi which gave instances of poor people who when given more money lays their gift on the collection plate at church. Lunch was served by Yvonne Knight, assisted by the hostess.
