Reasons to celebrate
Top left: With the reason for the season front and centre at

Home tour inspires woman
/ By Bonnie Gropp
Citizen editor
For Lynn Chalmers. being
involved in a Christmas home tour.
had her catching the decorating bug.
"I haven't always decorated as
much as I do. I did more after the
home tour and once you do you
seem to want to do more."
While a home tour may have been
the motivation, it's her children,
Sadies, nine; MacKenzie, seven;
Logan, four and Rylee, 17 months
who are her inspiration.
"My favourite part of the house is
the downstairs because I decorate it
now for the kids. They get so
excited."
Chalmers said she likes to have the
decorating done by the first of
December and typically spreads the
entire project out among other
responsibilities.
While the main floor of the split-
level home which the Chalmerses
built more than a decade ago, has an
almost Victorian elegance, the
snowman-themed downstairs has a
country feel.
The formal tree, which holds the
cherished keepsakes and baby
ornaments is the focal point of the
living.
My tastes always were more
fancy, I guess you might say. I liked
the clear lights, things like that. This
year MacKenzie asked for coloured
lights so we did the tree outside and
the one downstairs with colour."
Also, any of the decorations that
the children make are kept from year
to year and placed on their tree.
Besides the decorations for the
children, there is one other favourite
display of Chalmers - the nativity
scene which holds a place of honour
at the entry to the living room. "It's
important to me that my children
know what Christmas is all about."
Another great
season is in
the bag, and
we hope it's
filled with good times
for you and your
family. We really
