The Walton Women's Institute- had
a busy week feeding attendees of the
Blyth Festival. On Thursday
evening. 61 hungry patrons enjoyed
a delicious roast beef dinner served
at the Walton Hall. On Saturday
evening only 32 attended the dinner
served by the Institute Women at the
Walton United Church.
Recently, Neil McGavin was
honoured at an appreciation evening
hosted by the Huron County
Plowmen's Association for his 20
years of service as a director. It was
held at the Seaforth Agriplex with
approximately 170 people attending.
There was a five-table potluck meal.
A program was presented by
friends of Neil. This included a play
entitled A- Day in the Life of Neil
McGavin. Star performers included
Gord Pryce as Neil. George
Townsend' as Marie, Irma Pryce,
Ruth Townsend and Allan and Karen
Carter.
The emcee of the evening was
Graeme Craig with help from John
and Mary Becker. Steve Corbett and
Paul Dodds assisting.
A surprise visit by Red Green. a
performer from Guelph was enjoyed_
by all. Attending were many
members of the .plowmen's
Association, the Queen of the
Furrow and guests from Ottawa.
Cornwall, Belleville, Peterborough,
Chatham, Kitchener, Cambridge and
all across Ontario:
Joining Neil and Marie for the
occasion' were their children Brian.
Jeff. Cathy and Heather and their
families.
Congratulations to Neil for your

Only a small crowd attended the
last service before summer holidays
at Duff's United Church,
Walton.
This Sunday's service, June 27,
will be a combined service with
Cavan United Church. Winthrop
held at the Winthrop ball park at
9:30 a.m. Bring lawn_ chairs and
mark your envelopes with Duff's
United Church.
Attendees are invited to stay for
the meal-that follows.
Tickets are available at Walton Inn
and Winthrop General Store.
The congregation enjoyed the
carpentry crew for lunch at the Blyth
Inn. It was an enjoyable outing for
Mavis to check out the countryside
and hear the news of the crew.
Congratulations to Ken .and Betty
Glanville who were the grand prize
winners at the Seaforth elimination
draw and received $5,000.
Congratulations to Orval and Ruth
Bauer who celebrated their 40th
wedding anniversary with a party at
the BMG Community Centre.
Our sympathies are extended to
the family of Bill Turnbull who
passed away this past week.

McGavin's was the victim of theft
on the weekend. A baler was stolen.

Enjoying a long weekend away at
Gravenhurst were three local

and family had a great time at the
cottage.

The Craigs held their annual
family reunion at the Walton Hall on
Saturday.
Gathering in Seaforth were
members of the .Buchanan family to
celebrate Jean Buchanan's 99th
birthday. They enjoyed a birthday
lunch on Friday and attending from
Walton was granddaughter Sherry
Taylor with Emma and Owen.
There was a fantastic turnout for
the Relay for Life Walk for Cancer
at the Goderich high school on
Friday evening from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Saturday morning. There were 65
teams participating to raise over
$120,000 plus donations yet to be
reported.

Walton participants were 20
members of the team, Tracy's Go
Getters, which raised the largest
amount in pledges. Participating in
the Survivor lap were Chris and
Tracy Lee. Other team members
joined in and took turns walking the
track all night. Enjoying the
candlelit track walk were all the
Janmaat family members, Judy Lee
and Caden, Sherri and Emma Taylor,
Youngsters
create 'pets'
The Ontario Early Years program
participants in Walton at Duff's
United Church created awesome pet
rocks for Father's Day. They
decorated the rock with the poem:
"This pet rock reminds me of you.
"Sturdy and strong, loyal and true".
Happy Father's Day.
Jim Campbell would not take his
rock home as .he said he had
enough. Caden Lee brought his
Aunt Kim and demonstrated his
colour knowledge. Emma Taylor
taught sea animals knowledge to the
others. Alaina' Poland enjoyed
grandpa's barn song and Owen
Taylor now roams the room by
himself.

Brewers
keep on
winning
The Walton Brewers hosted the
Zurich Rangers on Tuesday evening
and defeated them 5-4 in an extra-
inning game. The Leonhardt
brothers, Scott and Steve, combined
to pitch for the win.
A homerun by Scott McDonald
helped the cause and the winning
run was scored by Darryl Houston.
The Brewers travelled to play the
Exeter Braves on Sunday evening
and clinched a 9-3 win. Larry
Lowes pitched five strong innings
and Scott Leonhardt came in to
close the game. Scott McDonald
was two for three at the plate.
The Brewers are at their top of the
Huron County Fastball League with
a seven win and one loss record.
