Thunder loses first
Blyth Mites baseball team got its
first win on June 17 against
•Belgrave B.
Lauren Cronin. Becca Chalmers.
Lucas Nicholson, Jordan Boniface
Button and Morgan Bos started the
squad off with five runs in the first
inning.
Kennan MacDonald was the only
one to round the bases in the second
inning.
Belgrave scored big in the third
inning with seven 'runs- to Blyth's
one.
Blyth had another big inning in
the fourth with Drew Wood,
MacDonald. Sadie Chalmers.
The Brussels Lawn Bowling Club
met at the clubhouse Wednesday
evening. June 16 with 16 members
and former members in attendance.
Yvonne Knight chaired the meeting
and Jean Bewley acted as secretary.
Membership has fallen this year as
five members are unable to bowl and
only two new members have joined.
There have been no more than three
people out to howl -on any evening.
After a brief discussion. the
members made the decision to cease
operations.

Lawn Bowling
Since the town owns the land, they
will cut the grass. The club members
decided that they will offer the
clubhouse to the town to do with as
they see fit. It could be used as a
meeting place in summer as there is
atkitchen and chairs and tables to
accommodate 40 people. The
electricity would have to be turned
back on, however, as the club cannot
afford to keep paying electricity
bills.
It was also mentioned'declaring it
a heritage • building as it is the
Nathan Plunkett, Ashley Walden and
Bryce Wheeler touching the plate.
In the fifth and final inning Button -
got on base, then Kelsey Kerr had a
fast run and dodged the Belgrave

had a good hit and advanced all the

It was a hard act to follow but
Christina Eckert swung herself to
second. MacDonald got a triple

the game.

Blyth Thunder had its seventh
game of the-season on Tuesday, June
15 on the Sparling field against
Lucknow I.
Blyth's goalkeeper was Greg
Roetcisoender who played a very
good game in the net. The first half
of the game was evenly matched as

rost scored the goal for Blyth with

During this first half several calls
were made on Lucknow for being
off-side. These off-sides gave the
Thunder some lucky breaks.
Lucknow came on strong and
scored two goals soon after the half-

halfbacks had a difficult time getting

U-7s beat Elma
On June 15 the Brussels U-7s
played Elma in Brussels and won 6-

The team didn't go down without
a fight though as they did manage to

Since they were three players
short, the rest of the team saw more
field time this past week.
There were no results submitted
for Brussels I.

Seaforth has more opportunities to
bowl during the week and fees are

The club can be revived at any time
if enough interest is shown.

game on June 16. but it was Brussels
II that walked away with the win.

and Jessica Johnston, who each
scored a goal while Nic Zwep scored make some great saves.
