The Women's _ Institute ladies
travelled to Londesborough to visit
Pianovations where Lianne
1-loogenhoom arid her partner
Tamara have opened a business
repairing and refinishing pianos.
Two years ago they opened their
business and have been very busy
working on restoring old pianos and
doing evaluations. At one time there
were 150 piano makers in the
area.
Moths are the greatest enemy of
old pianos. as they lay eggs in the
telt around the hammers.
The business has a player piano
that still works.
The Majestic Women's -Institute
took a trip to Stratford for their June
meeting.
The members and their guests had
lunch at Swiss Chalet. They then
had a short business meeting.
Members then went to view the
quilt display. These quilts were
made by cancer survivors or their
friends. The quilts and wall
hangings were beautiful and came
from all over the country. They next
went to the Rheo Thompson candy
store where they all indulged.
They are open three days a week
by appointment.
The 12 women enjoyed the trip. A
short meeting was held after with
roll call answered by what they' had
learned at Pianovations.
The Optimist Show 'n Shine is
June 26. The WI will have a baked
goods table in the area.
June 23 is a cleaning day so it's
hoped people will come and help.
Mary Hunter won a draw at
Pianovations.
Diana Robinson served lunch and
Kay Roberts thanked Jean Pattison
and Mary -Hunter for the work they
did in the flowerbeds.
The next meeting is a visit to
-Debbie and Laurie Campbell's.
Members are to take lunch and lawn
chairs. This will be on Aug. 25.
