Goodbye Bill. Our good friend
and neighbour left earth on Saturday
to once again catch up with his dear
Marie.
Bill Turnbull has lived to the south
of our home since I came to Brussels
in the 1970s and was one of those
folks you could always count on.
The purebred pigs were at their
height when we came to the
neighbourhood and Bill and Marie
did their best to promote the industry
he position of Dominion first vice-
president. A milestone was also
aihieved at this- 40th Dominion
Convention as the first lady
president. Comrade Mary Ann
Burden was elected and installed.
There were .1.434 accredited
delegates carrying 2,310 proxy -votes
attending at the London Convention
Centre. It was an interesting time and
being so close to us, I'm glad we had
the opportunity to attend.
The Friday night supper of roast
beef was well attended at the
Brussels Branch. This week is beef
stew.
Congratulations to Eric Ross and
Frank Stretton who attended Zone

Love from Bill, Myra,
Jana, Mike and Jodie
and all your family
and friends
often winning at the Royal Winter
Fair in Toronto. Dinner guests could
count on a good pork offering to
show their wares. Their cattle grazed
in the back field, now Huronlea
making this one very fine place to
live.
So long Bill. From my view
you've had a good life.
Just as it's a joy to watch a child
grow and mature it was -also a true
education to watch as older people
challenged life and made it their
own.
Our family was very fortunate to
have mature folks next door who
had lots of life experiences and
could still remember all the blunders
they made just at the time you were
making yours. Names like Sam and-
Jean, Ralph and Edna, Phyllis and
Bill, Florence, and Bill and Marie
will always hold a special spot in my
heart as they were the folks who
golf and will advance to District
competition in July.
The Saturday euchre saw 13 tables
at play. The top players of the day
were Bud Neekey and Tom Stevens
with 74 points. Close behind in
second were Shirley Hackett and-
Kay McCormick with 73 and John
and Iola Subject came in third with
71. The not-so-lucky players were
Helen Dobson and Mabel Willis with
46 points. Lucky lone hand winners
were Glenn Sellers and Ruth.
The fish fry crew was off to
Mitchell on Saturday evening.
Cooking were Lloyd and Mabel
Glanville, Greg Wilson, Sharon
Montgomery and Rick and Jo-Ann
McDonald.
That finishes June fish fries and we
will be going to Lucknow, Stratford
and Walkerton in July. Volunteers are
always appreciated. Call Jo-Ann to
find out the dates.
The Father's Day singles dance
saw over 80 enjoy the music of the
country Versatiles. Dances are every
two weeks.
The Cemetery Decoration Service
is Sunday, June 27 at' p.m. We ask
itti% 11. V*
helped us grow up.
As one person dies or makes life
changes. it leaves space for the next
generation to make their
contribution to the community. In
our little spot in the world my old
favourites have moved on and 1 miss
each one in a different way on a
different day.
But the hope for the world comes
in people and relationships and so
our welcome _and friendship will
continue with the new generation of
families Marc and Trish, Terri and
;Charlie and Sarah and Andy.
Hopefully my example at least some
days might be good.
I had a call from a reader (I liked it
better when I thought no one was
reading this and I could just write
with limited thought) just like that.
Anyway the call was to encourage
folks to get_the book Out Standing in
his field by Clem Steffler and
that comrades please form up at the
back of the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. to
parade.
Bring lawn chairs if you are
planning to observe the service.
Comrade Ross Bennett has been
under the weather but we are glad to
hear he's feeling better of late.
available at The Citizen offices. He
says it is good reading and it is even
better when you recall that Clem and
,Phyllis lived in Brussels in the 1990s
for a few years and were real
community people.
Other people will know the
Steffler name from days gone by in
Cranbrook while others will know
the teacher from Browntown or
perhaps Kingsbridge. Anyway Alex
recommends that you read the book.
Sounds like a good summer job.
The Grade 8s are in a twitter as
they make their final days as public
schoolers a memory.
Enjoy every day you are given.
Bye now, Betty G.W.
