2. To cut grass and do trimming at the Ethel Ball Diamond

Tender must be accompanied by (1) a copy of your current
Comprehensive General Liability Insurance Policy and (2) a
copy of your current WSIB Clearance Certificate.
Price to be submitted for each year at a cost per cutting. Grass
is to be cut once every 10 days or as instructed May to
October.

Program developed for arthritis

Vodden said Lam, along with
arthritis specialists in Australia,
developed the program for arthritis
suffers.
The Arthritis Foundation's
program is based on Lam's Tai Chi
for Arthritis program.
Vodden explained that tai means
great or ultimate and chi means
energy or source of strength.
"Practice is an attempt to use your
inner strength and using the large
excel skeletal muscles," she said.
-She said to get the full effects of
tai chi, it must be practised everyday
or there is "no value in it."
Vodden -said practising the
exercise for.. half-an-hour at home
each day is a good exercise and the
Blyth Tai Chi Club meets twice a
week and practises for one hour and
30 minutes each meeting.
This is the Blyth Tai Chi Club's
third year, but Vodden has been
practising tai chi for eights.
She said when she started; she
could barely -walk without her cane,
hut with the help of tai chi. she is
much more mobile.
"It has greatly improved my life."
said Vodden.
According to a review in the
Archives of International Medicine,
the ancient martial art of tai chi not
only improves strength, balance and
flexibility in older people, but it also
has positive effects on chronic health
conditions.
Vodden said as people get older.
they lose their sense of balance and
by practicing tai chi slowly and
regularly, it can • improve reflexes
and co-ordination resulting, in .good
balance.-
"Co-ordination, relaxation and
balance arc a gift to anyone. I have
never met anyone who has stuck
with it and ended up regretting it.
Your mind is in a positive set
because there is no competition,"
said Vodden.
She said anyone who has ever
'practiSed tai chi is welcome to come
and join the club for Tai Chi for
Arthritis Day. Those interested in
learning the exercise are welcome to
come as well and have a free short
lesson on tai chi or just watch.
