On Sunday the music night in the Monkton Presbyterian Church that featured the Satchell band was really enjoyed. The nine members of the band were multi-talented playing several different instruments. Three sang many solos as well during the performance. April 13. the Grade 3s and 4s went to the Slice of Huron to learn about agriculture, farm safety and water quality. The Grade 4s are working on patterns and symmetry this week in math. Doing hands-on activities using miras seemed to help improve their understanding of symmetry. They've been discovering patterns in pictures and in everyday problems. They've made patterns with a variety of math manipulatives, and are becoming proficient at using t-charts to record patterns. With Mr. Perrie on Friday morning, they could find many patterns in nature while touring the Environmental Learning Grounds noticing signs of spring. The Grade 4s are also working with patterns in language. They have been writing interesting paragraphs using three patterns commonly used by effective writers: step-by-step, most important to least important. and comparison and contrast. Mrs. Murray's Grade 5s have been multiplying decimals all week in math. In science they have been learning how to conserve energy. On one student for a year.
