That joyful refrain rang out in Christian churches this past weekend. What were we saying? Was this just part of an annual ritual or was there something more? As Christians we believe there is something more, much more. We are proclaiming the essential truth of our faith - Christ is alive and present with us. We believe the risen Jesus walks with us throughout our life's journey into life-beyond-death. Death does not have the final say. According to John's gospel, following her encounter with the risen Jesus. Mary tells the disciples. "I have seen the Lord." For Mary and for us there is a sudden and shocking awareness that, in Jesus. God does something with death that is completely unexpected. In Jesus' resurrection, a 'new thing.' has taken place. Resurrection is God's act of grace whereby we are reconciled to God Lung Assoc. hosts tourney The ninth annual Lung Association golf tournament will kick off the golf season on Saturday. Easter is to be experienced. enjoyed, to be a source of awe and wonder. When we truly believe that resurrection is from God, then our daily lives reflect that belief in the way we live God's love. With God enabling us, we follow the example Jesus gave us of how to live that love. We feed the hungry ensuring that our food hank shelves are full. We live our lives with compassion and caring. When we do this, we become witnesses to the resurrection.
