Madill Secondary School were thrilled to receive a 2003 Chevy Venture van for learning purposes, donated by General Motors of Canada. Two senior auto students pulled out the stereo and began investigating the van. (Elyse DeBruyn photo By Elyse DeBruyn Citizen staff Senior auto students at F.E. Madill Secondary School have a new toy to play with and as a bonus will be learning a great deal from it. General Motors of Canada (GMC) in assistance with John Cullins Chev Olds in Wingham, recently donated a 2003 Chevy Venture van to George Macintosh's senior auto class, who were trilled to receive the vehicle. Macintosh said he requested a vehicle from GMC as a teaching aid and soon after, one was available for pick-up. "High schools are usually on the bottom of the list (for vehicle donations.) They usually go to colleges," said Macintosh. He said the donation from GMC was made through a school donation program and Madill graciously accepted it. He said the van was donated because it was not roadworthy. "It would have been delivered to a car dealer, but it got damaged so they donated it to the school," said Macintosh. He said the van has eight km on it and has modern technology with the newest features which is an excellent teaching aid. "The van will be good for 25 years as far as high school training goes. Car technology stays current for at least 25 years. so it is a great teaching aid." he said. Barry's Esso in Wingham donated Today will be the first day with your new car.
