PAGE 9. A few travellers have returned from trips to Mexico. .Roelf and Diety Bus enjoyed - a week's vacation. • Bruce Clark was in Puerto Valarta for a week. Here visiting from Calgary is Jean Bewley's grandson Scott and friend Heather. They were only here six days and made the most of them. After spending Thursday night and Friday at Grandma Jean's they toured the local area visiting the Stratford Festival to look around. They took in Niagara Falls on Saturday and enjoyed Easter dinner at Aunt Mary and Wayne Baker's on Sunday. It was then a trip to the Toronto Zoo before their return to Calgary on Tuesday. Neil and Marie McGavin, along with Murray and Betty Cardiff and Peter and Marlene Hemingway spent a weekend in Toronto enjoying a cousin's reunion along with three other couples from the Toronto area, They stayed at Allan and Sheila Metcalf's and were able to enjoy a visit with Ian and Pat Matheson. Easter is a time for new beginnings. spring cleanup and families enjoying each other's company. Good Friday saw the gathering of Marilyn McDonald's family. Joining together were Bruce McDonald, Jim and Linda McDonald and family, Heather and Ron Clark and family. Cathy and Paul Flaxbard and family, K. Hoe greets at Duff's On Easter Sunday people attending Duff's United Church were greeted by Karen Hoegy. The children of the Sunday school started the service by singing Christ Is Risen, Yes Indeed. The next service will be pulpit exchange. Rev. Bigger from Clinton United Church will be in Walton. The Food Bank has placed a collection box in the foyer. Food donations are desperately needed. The youth choir sang Walk Softly in Springtime and Cassandra Banks, Laura and Bethany Black. Joelle Glanville and Ryan Baan did a wonderful job. Fifteen children gathered at the front. Rev. Joan Tuchlinsky asked them what they were celebrating that day and they answered, '!Christ Rising from the dead". She then asked if they knew who the Spice Girls were. They answered a singing group. Rev. Joan then told them about a different trio of spice girls. Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Jo=anna. They went on Easter Sunday to the tomb, with their spices, and found an angel who told them Jesus had risen. They were surprised and terrified, but yet went and told others of the miracle. What about other spices. What did they do with them? Maybe they made hot-cross buns which have been around for centuries, and marked them with a cross. Rev. Special guests included great- granddaughter Shay Flaxbard and Marilyn's sister Jane Gill of Ottawa. Neil and Marie McGavin had family on Good Friday for Easter and to celebrate Marie's birthday. Brian and Shelley and family, Cathy and Pat Melady and family, Heather and Brian Kelso and family enjoyed the day and even picked a few stones for Grandpa Neil. Jeff and Shannon and family joined Neil and Marie on Sunday for an Easter visit. Marie Coutts had a small Easter dinner with Allan and Karen Carter on Friday and entertained Viola Kirkby on Saturday evening for a meal. Ron and Betty McCallum were the hosts for the Beuermann Easter gathering. Joining for a noisy get- together were Glen and Marilyn Beuermann and family, Neil and Joan Beuermann and family, Sharon and Bill McClure and family, Elaine and family, Valerie- and family and Dale and family. Mary Humphries travelled to daughter Kim and George Kruses' home to celebrate with family. Bob and Nora Humphries and family members including Mary's newest great-grandchild Jarrett had a great time together. Kim brought Mary home on Sunday and joined her for church and breakfast afterwards. Coming from St. Catharines to join Mert and Doreen Hackwell for Ester were Craig and Sherri, Mackenzie. Aiden and Spencer Hackwell. A highlight for Mackenzie was winning the giant stuffed Easter bunny from Keating's Pharmacy. Elsie Carter was the hostess for her family on Sunday for Easter . dinner. Darryl and Glenda, Amanda and Matthew Morrison and Michael WLS gets grant Walton Little School recently received a one-time volunteer grant from the BMO Financial Group. The $700 grant money is to be put towards the Literacy Program For Children. The grrant was made possible by Shauna Hamilton, a volunteer at the school through her connection with the BMO Financial Group. Attending church first were Steve, Peggy, and John Wakahayashi; Natalie and Adrienne, Laura, Dan and Adam Forbes. In time for lunch were Elaine and Steve Grosvenor, Kevin and Rachel. The Willis family gathered at the home of Paul and Dianne McCallum to celebrate. Present were Mabel Willis, Kelly and Sharon Dalton and family, Donna and Stan McClure and family and special guest a cousin from Calgary. Visiting around with relatives is Gail (McWhirter) Hodgins with husband Bob. They enjoyed caching up with the Wills girls. The Godkin families all gathered at Ron and Lynn Godkins' to celebrate both Easter and Heather Godkin's birthday. Joining in the celebration were Lavern and Marion, Bruce and Katrin and boys, Gary and GeriLee and girls, Sharon and friend and Donna and family. Emerson and Phyllis Mitchell had a houseful for their last Easter at the farm. Joining them were Gordon and JUlie and family, Ross and family, Doug and Janet and family and Neil and Marie and family. Special guest was Kathleen Cuthill, Phyllis's mother. Brian Black and Joan Tuchlinsky had a special visitor for a few days. One of the triplet nieces, Meagan. was their guest while her parents enjoyed a small vacation. A three- year-old sure livens up a household but was great fun for all. Rick and Jo-Ann McDonald, LeeAnn and Jason Konarski, Kelly, Scott and Leona spent Easter Sunday in Mitchell at Gerry Clarke's home. They cut wood and raked lawn along with other family members, then enjoyed Easter dinner. Good Friday was a busy day for a lot of brave participants. The Brett to Brian's Drownin' Dog Great Canoe Rally was held for the first time with Over 50 participating. They had to canoe froin Brett Lee's house to Brian Melady's and stop and pick up cards to form the best poker hand on the way. Many ended up damp but all report a great time. Scott McDonald and Greg Medd were second-place winners. They finished the day and prizes were awarded at the Seaforth Curling Club. The event raised $200 for Bill Price, who camped out at Egmondville United Church for a week to raise money for cancer, $400 for Seaforth Legion and $400 for Seaforth Curling Club. Welcome to Rob, Andrea and Adam Shortreed who have moved to their home on the former 9th of Morris or Walton Road. They have been busy renovating during the winter and now are ready to make it a home. Of course more to do but all in good time. Out enjoying birthday lunch were Walton women LeeAnn Konarski, Jo-Ann McDonald, Malinda Johnson and birthday girl Betty McDonald on Monday. They enjoyed dinner at JR's and a chance to visit. Birthdays celebrated last week included Marie McGavin, Bonnie Hastings, Heather (Blake) Dunbar, Shannon Craig, Doug Mitchell, Cole Zwep. Jack Ryan, Katie Emmrich, Jennifer Williamson. Congratulations to Naomi and Mike Pels on the birth of Grace a few weeks ago. 12 at Early Years The Ontario Early years program at Duff's United Church had 12 children enjoy burning off energy for awhile. They painted Easter bunnies and yes their hands too! They played some soccer and a game of chase. The babies enjoyed some new play pillows, one filled with bells and one with feathers. Leader Val Watson has found some circle activities that match the Walton energy. They enjoyed the dancing scarves and tapping sticks. FROM WALTON WI meets for lunch The Walton Women's Institute met at the Walton Inn for lunch with seven members present. The Opening Ode was sang and the Mary Stewart Collect was repeated to open the general meeting. The minutes and the treasurer's report were read. The correspondence was dealt with. The ACWW church service is April 25 at Brussels Mennonite Church at 10:30 a.m. The District annual meeting will be held in Brussels on May 11 with a $2 donation. The annual meeting portion of the day approved last year's minutes and treasurer's report. All donations will be left the same including those to the fair board, poppy fund. community hall and others. Yvonne Knight installed the officers for the 2004-05 year: president, Leona McDonald; secretary-treasurer. Marjory Humphries; PRO, Brenda Perrie. All the committees were lelt the same.
