The talented students were busy setting up their exceptional paintings last week in preparation for the show. Bennetts greet at Duff's United service Welcoming friends and members to Duff's United Church, Walton were Ross and Marg Bennett on Palm Sunday. It was an intergenerational service and the sacrament of communion was observed. Attendees were all given palm sprigs. The lilies at the front of the sanctuary were for shut-in members Betty McCall and Bertha Love as gifts from the UCW. Food donations are urgently needed for the food banks. These can be brought to the church or left in the containers at the grocery store. The UCW covers the cost of the United Church Observer at a cost of $14 per family per year. Heirloom font used for baptism William Cameron Mann Dotson, infant son of Tracy Mann and David Doison of Waterloo, was baptized on Sunday, March 28 at Knox Presbyterian Church, Waterloo with Rev. Brooke Ashfield and Rev. Linda Ashfield officiating. Aunt and Uncle, Kendra and Ben Breen, Waterloo are godparents. The silver baptismal font used for the baptism had been the property of the former Knox United Church, Moncrieff. It had served as the baptismal font for two generations of the Mann family, prior to the closing of the church. At the auction of the church property in 1976, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Mann purchased the silver font as a keepsake. The late Mr. and Mrs. Archie Mann, who farmed in the Moncrieff area for years are great-grandparents of William. He is also the grandson of Mrs. Mary Beth Mann of Waterloo and the late William Mann, formerly of RR1, Monkton, as well as Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Dolson of Erin. Listowel resident, Mrs. Marion Roberts attended the service and family dinner at the Dotson home as did Janice Pfeifer, Baden; Sarah Ryder, Brantford; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mills and family, Granton; Donna and Cameron Dotson, Erin; Kendra and Ben Breen. Nadine Ringgenberg read how Jesus cleansed the temple. Then she dropped coins at the altar. Ryan Baan read about preparing the passover, then covered the table with a cloth. Murray Dennis read of see and more were inside the barn doing work. Not a ladder was in sight and men were climbing about dismantling rafters and lowering them to the ground. There was a break for lunch then by 1:30 p.m. the entire job wa done. Condolences to Marilyn McDonald and family on the passing of brother-in-law John Gill of Ottawa. We welcome back Marjory Fraser from an extended holiday in Windsor. Taking a trip to Sault Ste. Marie were four lucky ladies from the Seaforth area. Former Waltoner •Maxine Marks, along with Ariat Woods, Olave Little and Shirley Stewart were representing the Seaforth Legion at the Provincial ladies Auxiliary euchre. They had a good time but were not winners. The Shining Stars class has begun a new unit on colours and have experimented with mixing colours and creating rainbows with prisms and light. The Acorn class is on a trip around The Last Supper, then broke the loaf of bread and placedl it on the table. Melissa and Joelle Clant,ille read of Jesus's warnings of things to come, then placed a cup of wine on the table. Karen Hoegy read of Jesus praying in the garden, then placed a sprig of flowers on the table. The youth choir consisting of Melissa and Joelle Glanville, Ryan Baan, Abby McGavin, Laura and Bethany Black sang All Night, All Day. Monique Baan continued the story of Jesus's arrest, and placed a lantern. Laura Black read of Peter's denial of Jesus, and sprinkled black feathers over the table. The offering was taken by Ross Bennett and Lavern Godkin. Travelling to the Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan on the weekend were a trio of Lees. Chris, Tim and Jake Lee were part of the over 50,000 in attendance to watch the Supercross. Chris's capacity as columnist for Motocross Performance magazine allowed him the vantage point of watching from the press box. They had a great time and returned early Sunday morning. Lots of locals attended the Women's Day Out held in Blyth. Enjoying a delightful lunch and afternoon were Mary Humphries, Marie Coutts, Marg Bennett, Olene Dennis and Anne Ryan of Walton. They enjoyed the guest speaker Kate Young of the New PL and her topic of volunteers. Abby McGavin read of the crucifixion, and placed hammer and nails on the table. The senior choir sang Jesus Remember Me. Graeme Craig approached the front and ripped a linen cloth in half. He related the story of Jesus' death, then covered the table with the torn cloth. Brandon McGavin told the story of the burial then placed a large rock on, the table. Looking to Resurrection was read by Shelley McGavin. The sacrament of communion was served by Ian Wilbee, Adam McClure, Brian and Laura Black. Rev. Joan thanked Shelley McGavin for organizing the people involved in the story of Easter week. moved to their home in Brussels. FROM WALTON Umbrellas theme of Early Years At the Ontario Early Years Play and Learn program at Duff's United Church the children are learning that spring has sprung and the theme is umbrellas. Folks might be seeing sequined umbrellas as the children enjoyed the glitter. An active circle included It Is Raining and Five Umbrellas. The children enjoyed the song Going to Clinton to the Fair. The program is Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and all pre-school are welcome to attend with their caregiver. WLS students play outdoors
