This year's contribution is Heart and Nine Patches, designed, assem- bled and named by Club member Ila Cunningham. Other members partic- ipated in the making of the blocks and the quilting. Christena Gross completed the quilt by binding it. Two techniques were used in mak- ing this single bed-sze quilt which features Winnie The Pooh colours. The nine-patch blocks were machine pieced using green and blue squares. These were joined with yellow squares on which bright red hearts The regular meeting of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge #315 took place on Tuesday. March 9 with Noble Grand Sister Elva Brown presiding. The proceeds benefit the Canadian Cancer Society. The Project started in 1997 when a woman named Carol Miller was diagnosed with breast cancer. Quilting had been a big part of her life and so she turned to it again. Miller and her friends created the first quilt for the project and solicited donations from across the country. She had hoped for 35 quilts, but received 134. In 2002 941 quilts were donated. Isa Rabbets will pay her official spring visit to the Lodge at the next meeting, March 23.
