Stratford Garden Festival coming soon Nineteen gardens in the surrounding area will focus on colour. texture, light, scent and sound at the fourth annual Stratford Garden Festival. The Lung Association in Huron- Perth and Anything Grows, are hosting the festival at the Stratford Coliseum from March 11-14 with the theme Four Seasons. The Coliseum will once again be transformed into a magical place that will make everyone forget the snow and • dream of Canadian spring, summer and fall. The festival will be open March 11 from noon until 5 p.m., March 12 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., March 13 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and March 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a $7 admission fee at the door. A special opening garden party The Wingham and District Hospital Foundation plans to hold a live and silent auction to raise money for the new equipment at the Wingham and District Hospital. The Foundation hopes to raise $50,000 for the purchase of a defibrillator monitor and a colonoscope. The event will be held April 15 at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex Knights of Columbus Centre. Local and area businesses will be approached in the next few weeks to assist in reaching the Foundation's goal by donating items for the auction. Donors will be recognized prior to,.and at the event itself. A tax receipt will be issued for the cost of the item if requested. will take place on March 11 from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. visitors can avoid the crowds and enjoy a festive evening of food, flavour and fun. Events include tasting three different wines from Malivoire Wine Company of Beamsville, "Tastes of Perth," which is a sampling of a wide variety of foods produced in the area, consult with garden experts and a live performance of a section of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons. Tickets are $30 for the full night. Beginning at 11:30 a.m. on March 13, Antony John, organic grower and host of Food TV's Manic Organic, will join Patrick Lima, Canadian garden author and co-owner of Larkwhistle Garden, to host an organic lunch. Tickets cost $35 a person for the four course lunch which will include a glass of wine "We are hoping for support and participation of the businesses within our hospital catchment area. It is important to provide our hospital with the necessary medical equipment to provide quality patient care to those serviced by the Wingham and District Hospital," said Foundation secretary-treasurer. The Wingham and District Hospital is a registered charitable organization incorporated in 1978 as a non- profit organization set up to receive and administer donations from the public for the sole benefit of the Wingham and District Hospital. It is operated by a volunteer board of directors independent of the hospital. from the Malivoire Wine Company. All four days of the Stratford Garden Festival will be filled with expert and entertaining presenters including Martin Quinn, a specialist in ornamental grasses and perennials, Paul Zammit, perennial manager of PlantWorld, Harry Jongerden, head gardener of the Festival and Lima (hosting of the lunch.) The festival will also have 40 businesses at the marketplace with a wide selection of merchandise including garden containers such as handcrafted clay pots, decorative garden accents, plants, herbs and also artists who paint garden scenes.
