Former Ashfield
Man Passes
LESLIE RITCHIE
Andrew Leslie. Ritchie, a former
Ashfield farmer, passed away at
Wingham and District Hospital on
Monday, December 1st in his 86th
yCar-
He was born in Ashfield Town-
ship on March 4, 1890, and was the
last surviving member of a family
of nine born to Andreiv Ritchie and
Ellen (Hunter) Ritchie.
On March 16, 1921 he married
Deneda Sherwood. They farmed in
Ashfield until fourteen years ago
when they retired to Lucknow,
residing on Wheeler Street. Mrs.
Ritchie died suddenly on December
31, 1967.
Mr, Ritchie has been a resident
of Pinecrest Manor for the past
year and a half.
He is survived by one son Alvin.
daughter-in-law Catherine and four
grandchildren . of Sarnia.
Besides his wife Mr. Ritchie was
predeceased by one sister Mrs.
Wes (Janet) Twainley and seven
brothers, William, James, Robert.

Huron TownshiP Council met for
the regular meeting on Monday,
December 15, at the Towitship
Hall.
Correspondence was received
from the Bruce. Dufferin, Grey
Lung Association requesting a
donation for the Christmas Seal
Campaign; the . Ministry of the
Environment advising their policy
Is unchanged regarding additional
water hookups on the Birch Acres
Subdivision well; Ministry of
Revenue ackising extension of
delivery of assessment notices until
January 6, 1975 on account of the
postal strike; the final date for
lodging a complaint to the Assess-
ment Review Court has been
extended to' February 11, 1976;
from G. Emmerton requesting rind
maintenance in the Emmerton
subdivision; application for tile
drain loan from Wyld Farms. R. R.

The . following motions were
passed.
That the minutes of the Novem-
ber 17. 1975 meeting be adopted as
read.
That Huron Township Council
donate ten dollars to the Christmas
Seal Fund.
That Council accept the tile loan
application of Wyld FarmS on lot
24, con. 5 in the amount of
515,075.00.
That Huron Township will 'as-
sume road maintenance in the
Emmerton subdivision when the
roads are brought up to M.T.C.
standardS, and approved by sante.
That council- has no objection to
the land severance of Eunice
Emmerton on part lot 43, con. A.,
or William Ferguson on part lot 77,
con. 1 and Lester Farrell, if the
depth is reduced to 200 feet.
That council adjourn to meet
again on December 15. 1975 at
!.10.00 a.m.
. Road accounts in the amount off
56.153.63, and general accounts in
the amount of S.55.678.24 were
ordered paid.

The funeral service was held at
MacKenzie Memorial Chapel,
Lucknow, on Wednesday, Decem-
ber 3. Rev. Doug Kaufman of
Lucknow United Church, of which
the deceased was a member, was
minister.
Pallbearers were Don Ritchie,
Frank Sherwood, Eldon Ritchie.
Murray Gaunt, Earnest Sherwood,
Harold Ritchie.
Temporary entombment was at
South Kinloss Mausoleum with
final resting place Greenhill Ceme-
tery..
