toward the $200,000 increased
annual costs directly attributed to
reorganization.
Mr. COrnies said he was not
including $500,000 extra in grants
for policing because 'that might
initially be more than eaten up by
the expenses of establishing the
new county police system.
"Overall, though, my view is
that you come out ahead in terms of
dollars," he said'. .°
The consultant noted that the
need for a government study in
Bruce was prompted by greatly
increased demands 'for services by
residentt attracted by the Bruce
Nuclear Power Development.
He said the nuclear development
is bound to have "spin-off" effects
in attracting industry' and residents
in the next few. years.
Large industries are planning to
locate in the area, according to
rumors circulating at Queen's
Park, he said, "and news should be
coming down the pipe soon."
The county's restructuring com-
mittee now has the task of debating
the report and deciding how, or if,
it should be implemented, Mr.
Cornies said.
Warden Albert Worrall said he
hoped council would carry the
study to' its next steps "and I'm
glad we didn't throw it out in the
middle like Huron County did."
In neighbouring Huron County, a-
county council restructuring com-
mittee decided in late August its
study should not include' political
amalgamations but only amalga-
mations of 'some services:
