Mr. Gaunt referred the
opening as 'a hallmark occasion in
the community. "I don't know of
another community in the province
where community spirit is more
evident", said Mr. Gaunt.

A short program included the

Some 25 to 35 people interested
in business are expected to attend
the, seminar which will consider
operating projections add financial
statements of a small business and
the effect that an expansion has on
them. Jack Ward, C.A. of the firm
Ward and Uptigrove, will discuss
various aspects of business plan-
ning and will be available to field
registrants' questions on finance,
fiscal controls and/or taxation
matters.
The IDB, which was established
in 1944 as a subsidiary of the Bank
of Canada, makes loans to busin-
esses of all types for a variety of
purposes. Almost . half of , the
Bank's loans are for $?,5,000 or less
and the Bank is especially interest-
ed in assisting smaller businesses.
The Advisory Services Depart-
ment of the Bank publishes a series
of pamphlets ' on small business
management, provides information
on Federal assistance programs
available to businesses, organizes
management seminars and in ether
ways tries to help business people
to improve their management
skills.
