MacDonald, Havelock Street south in Ltwknow, was sold to Clifford Roulston of Kinloss. George Newbold of Lucknow was --named president of Associated Nursing Homes of Ontario for 1965-6 at the 6th annual convention held at the Royal York Hotel, Toronto. Rabies was rampant in the community. A number of incidents were reported in the area just east of Lucknow and south east on concession 12. A horse and heifer on the Aitchisim farm died and tests revealed rabies, believed to be from a fox which when later destroyed was found rabid. Also two heifers died on the farm of Phil MacMillan and one on the farm of Vernon Hunter. Kelso MacNay Ashfield lost two calves, also victims of 'rabies.. 30 YEARS AGO OCTOBER 1945 Charles Webster, who had previously disposed of his restaur- ant and dairy interests in Lucknow, purchased a dairy business at. Stouffville. He obtained posSes- slow October 1st. Charlie also took over an associated ice business that supplied the summer, colony at nearby Musselman's Lake. W. J. Lane, who had been. manager of the Ripley Central office of the Huron and. Kinloss Telephone system for twenty-two years, resigned and disposed of his interests to Howell Fraser of concession 2; Huron, who planned to- take over his new duties November 1st. The building which housed a furniture' store was included in the business transac- tion. The Ladies Auxiliary was spon- soring a bridge and • euchre marathon. ti 50 YEARS AGO OCTOBER 1925 • The Rev. C. H. MacDonald recently called by Lucknow Pres- byterian congregation, was induct- ed into the charge. Rev. Mr. Hardie, who had been pastor of Ashfield ' Presbyterian. Church for fifteen and, a half years, severed his connection with the congregation, moving to London; ZION Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilkins visited his brother, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wilkins of Chesley Sunday 'afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Hackett and family had Sunday dinner at the' home of her niece, Mr. and Mrs. Murray Vincent of Belgrave. Mr. and Mrs. Russel Swan and family visited Sunday with his aunt, Miss Margaret Disher of Goderich. Barbara Wilkins of Paris, Ontar- io and Mrs. James Sheppard Sr. and Jim of Cambridge (Galt) visited Friday of last week at 'the home 'of Mr. an'd Mrs. Charles Wilkins and family.
