on Sunday. The Kirklands dropped
in to visit Mrs. Mary MacAuley and
then spent the day at their son's,
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Kirkland. while
Mr., and Mrs. Frank Ritchie, Craig
and Todd Riegling celebrated the
84th birthday of Mrs. Ritchie's
mother, Mrs. Mary MacAuley.
Her. birthday date is Tuesday,
September 9th.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Helm, Janine
and Douglas spent SUnday after-
noon with her mother. Mrs. Elmer
Pollard of Ripley. •

Milvert Reid was admitted to
Wingham Hospital on Tuesday of ,
last week and then transferred to
University •• Hospital. London on
Saturday.
DUNGANNON
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Stormes of
Kitchener spent a few days at Point
Farms with their daughter, Pat and
her husband, Mr. and Mrs. John
Wyman and Chris and called on
friends. in Dungannon.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Wilbur and
Bradley of Willowdale, Mrs. D. S.
Fines. of Toronto; also Mr. and
Mrs. Alec Wilbur of Delhi spent
the week end at the former's
summer home in Dungannon.
Mrs. Mary . Bere and Jamie
accompanied Mrs. Jean Carruthers
to Kintail on Thursday evening to
visit. Steve and Marilyn Stothers,
Scott, Joanne, Steven and Susan
who were leaving Friday to return
home to Winnipeg after a two week
vacation at the family cottage.
School opened for the fall term
on September 2 with an enrolment
at. Brookside of 408 and a staff Of 18
teachers. New faces 'on staff 'are '
Mr. Gary. Jewitt, acting principal,
and Miss Vianne Trezise, French
teacher, 'who comes from North
Bay. She has an apartment in
Lucknow. Although there were a
few minor crisis such as a child
missing his bus home or one
getting put on the wrong bus and
having a free tour of the township,
everyone settled in to the familiar
routine fairly smbothly.. Since the
portable classroom has not been
delivered, yet,. Mrs. Graham and
her grade 6 class are using the gym
as a classroom, hopefully not for
long.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Linning-
ton, Michael and Ricky called on
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Godfrey and
family on Sunday.
Rev.. H. G. •Dobson's sermon on
Sunday was entitled, .'Give God
Your Best". 'He 'thanked the choir
and Mrs. Judy McMichael, organ-
ist, for their contribution to. the
service and invited any young
people who are interested, to join
the' choir. Dungannon Church
anniversary is September 28.

The United Church congrega-
tions of Chalmers,'. Kinloss and
Bervie marked the 50th anniver-
sary of the United Church in
Canada 'as well as the individual
anniversaries of each church at a
special homecoming service at
Silver Lake Camp on Sunday.
