DIED IN MANITOBA
Word was received, here of the
passing of John McIntyre of .
Culross, Manitoba. His wife; who
passed away 2. years ago, was the
former Minnie Haldenby, a sister
of William, George and Art.
Haldenby. Tbe late. Mr. McIntyre,
'who was. in his'96th year has been
in failing health and has been
hospitalized since April. The
funeral was held on Friday. We
extend sympathy to the family and
relatives.
Cathy Hedley returned to Kitch-
ener after holidaying at her home
here and at a cottage at Boiler
Beach:

formetly Of here, who celebrated
their 40th wedding anniversary on

• The annual Ashton reunion, was
held on Sunday, July 27th at the
home of Mr. and , Mrs. Bill Park,
Dungannon.
There were 1.4 families repres-
ented. The afternoon was spent
reminiscing and participating in
the sports activities prepared by

guessing smarties, Mrs. Marie
Park; guess contents of/box, Mrs.
Gordon Richardson; word contest,
Mrs. Lorna Radford; person with
most birthdays, Mrs., Roy Pepper;
closest birthday, Mr. Gordon
Richardson; youngest person, Brad
Park; lucky spot, Bessie Ashton;
wheelbarrow race, Ron Baer and
Diane Shobbrook; 3-legged race,
Vicki Park and Debbie Schultz;
bean bag- throw, Vicki Park and
Tom Park; kick the slipper, Vicki
,Park and Steve Park; suitcase
relay, Ray Easom's team; .Most
graceful walker, Gladys' Wallis.

the farthest distance.
At the dinner hour Ashton
Johnston gave grace and the
descendants sat' down to a lovely
meal.
• Following registration, the busi-
ness of the day was chaired by
president Cecil Ashton. All offices
were filled by acclamation. A
minute's silence was observed for
the members, who passed away
since last reunion.
The entertainment was enjoyed
by all and consisted Of a solo by
Todd Patk, solo by Patti Jo Park,
readings hy Bessie Ashton, Marie
Park and , Steve • Park and an
impromptu 'speech by Ashton,
Johnston. ;
Despite the earlier cloud burst,
everyone enjoyed 'the sunny after-
no:in and plan to' attend again next
year at the same. place. Hope to
see more descendants!
A. note of sadneSs at the reunion
was the fact that Mrs. Jack Ashton
of , Thunder Bay died on the ferry '
enroute from Manitoulin to the
reunion.

Trinity United Church Women
held their regular meeting .at the.
home of Mrs. Ken Alton on
Thursday evening, July 24. Mrs.
Charles. Wilkins opened the meet-
ing With a few words of welcome,
and hymn '161 was sung, followed
by all repeating the Lord's Prayer
in unison.
Mrs. Ken Alton opened the
devotions with 'the topic "The
Church Christians Assembled".
Mrs. Cliff Kilpatrick, and Mrs.
Warren Zinn read several, portions
of scripture and Mrs. Alton
continued with the topic. The
singing of hymn 296 followed, with
Mrs. Alton closing the devotional
part of the meeting with prayer.
The buSiness part was then
conducted by the president Mrs.
Charles Wilkins. Mrs. Ken Alton
gave the Trinity Tattler and Mrs.
Charles Wilkins closed with a
prayer. The next meeting will be in
.September. ,A barbecue lunch was
then served by the hostess and the
committee in charge.
