Waterloo visited with their parents
Mr. and Mrs. Ben McClenaghan
and attended the funeral of their
uncle Mr. Herb Laidlaw.'
Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClenaghan
on Saturday attended the wedding
of Don Moss and Donna Fuller at
• Tillsonburg Anglican Church at 3
• p.m. •The reception was at the
Community _Centre. They ' were
accompanied by Mrs. Eileen Park-
er. Mr. and Mrs. Carl •McClenag-
han and Mrs. Parker are uncle and
aunts- of the groom.
• This community was sorry to
learn on Sunday that during the
• early Sunday morning thunder
storm the barn on the farm of Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Versteeg had been
burned due to lighting. At the time
of the storm Bill was away at the
Bailey farm, which he has rented,
fixing a fence'when he saw the light
in the sky. Mrs. Versteeg phoned
- the fire department and they
released the cattle in the barn.

Ritchie Reunion
Held Sunday
• The annual Ritchie picnic was
held on Sunday, July 20th 'at the
Ashfield Park with only 37 present.
After a bountiful lunch, a program
of sports was enjoyed by all.
Prizes were: youngest person,
Douglas Helm; closest boy's birth-
day, Jeff Gibson; closest girl's
' birthday. Jan Gibson; closest
man's birthday; Philip Eastman;
closest lady's birthday, Cookie
• Wardle; lucky birthday, Myrtle
Helm; closest anniversary, Tom
• and Joan Helm; oldest person, Bob
Helm; • coming farthest, Marion
Tasker, Gary and Sharon Bugg;
' most change in man's pocket,
Clifford Eastman; fullest car, Philip
Eastman.
Races were won as follows: 3 and
under, Janine and Douglas Helm;
boys 4-7, Jeff Gibson, Todd and
Craig Riegling; girls 4-7. Jan
Gibson, Heather and Lee Ann
I Brown; wheelbarrow race, Craig
and Todd Riegling, Lee Ann and
Carolyn Brown; ladies' race, Shar-
on Bugg, last, Sara Ritchie; timed
race, Philip' Eastman,
Members were present from
Brighton, Burlington , Waterloo
and Forest. Hope to see everybody
next year on the 3rd Sunday in July
at the Ashfield, Park. •

The community was sorry to
learn of the passing on Saturday of
Mr. Robert Stewart of the Langside
area in his 76th year. Sympathy is
extended to Mrs. Stewart and
daughters Mrs. Lorne McAllister
(Velma), Mrs. Dave Moffat (Eile-
en) and son Donald of Teeswater.
The funeral was held on Monday
from MacPherson Funeral Parlors,
Teeswater.
, On Friday Langside and White-
church Sunday School held a picnic
at Amberley Beach. There were
around 35 in attendance to enjoy
the outing. It was decided to have
another picnic next Friday, July 25.
Visitors on Thursday with Mr.
and Mrs. Victor Emerson were Phil
Chadwick, Mrs. Leslie,. Mr. and
Mrs. Hewitt of London and Mr. and
Mrs. Sam Emerson of Ripley.
Mr. and Mrs. Calvert Falconer of
I, Blyth were visitors here this week.
Their family are holding Open
House in honour' of their 50th
wedding anniversary on Saturday,
August 2nd.
We are pleased to report that
Mrs. Dalton Schultz returned horne.
from St. Jorphrs Hospital on
Wednesday.
On Sunday a surprise shower by.
the Elliott relatives was held at the
home of Mrs. Bill MacPherson of
St. Helens for Miss Ruth Elliott, a
• September bride to be,. Mrs. Elroy
Laidlaw, Jane and Mrs. Ducharme
were also in attendance.
Little Bobby Craig returned to
his home in Wingham after visiting
for a week with his grandparents,
Mr'. and Mrs. Dawson Craig while
his mother was in hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Craig and
family on Saturday were at Malton
•Airport to meet Mrs. Janet Hall
and Miss Edna Carr on their return
from British Columbia.
Mr. and Mrs. Dawson Craig
were Sunday visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Peacock of near James-
town.
Miss Darlene toultes returned
home on the week end after
spending fast. week with Mr. and
Mrs. Murray Coultes at Toronto.
