and Lisa of Meaford spent part of
their, vacation with his parents Mr.
and Mrs. Stuart Collyer, Lucknow.
MI: and Mrs. Tim Collyer of
Alliston spent a week of their
vacation at the Thompson cottage,
Amberley Beach.
Callers in town, Thursday were
Rev. and Mrs. Gordon Geiger of
Essex who are vacationing at their
Inverhuron Beach cottage. Rev.
Geiger was minister of Lucknow
United Church 15 years ago. He
has ministered at Essex since
leaving Lucknow.
Ray Elliott of Halifax, Nova
Scotia, son of Mr. and Mrs., Bryce
Elliott of Lucknow, surprised his
family anti friends with a visit here
last week end. Ray spent three
days this week in Toronto with
Xerox of Canada. Next week he
will be 'in Leesburg, Virginia.,
Local winners at the Howick
Lions Bingo included: Mrs. Evelyn
Barkwell, Sarah Hamilton, regular
games; Mrs. Hamilton also won a
lucky draw.
Bob Greer of Lucknow returned
home last Thursday after fifteen
days in University Hospital, Lon-
don where he underwent knee
surgery two weeks ago. Bob was
injured in .a motorcycle-car accident
in June.

Scott and Karen of Orangeville
spent last week end in 'Lucknow:
with his parents Mr. and Mrs.
Stuart Collyer. Scott and Karen
remained for a week's holiday.
Mrs. Rosie Stanley of Lucknow
accompanied her daughter-in-law
Mrs. Russell Stanley of Wood-
bridge to Summerside, Prince
Edward Island recently, where she
visited for two weeks with the
latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.
Gallant and other Members of the
family.
Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Wightman of
Niagara Falls and Harvey Wight-
man of Waterloo spent the week
'end with their mother, Mrs. Earl
Wightman in Lucknow.
Mrs. Mary Powers of Lake
Cowichan, British Columbia, is
visiting with Miss Helen Thomp-
son, Lucknow. Other recent
visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Thompson and Anne—of Windsor,
who also attended the Stortz-Greer.

ing Ontario Girl Guide Camp at
Doe Lake this week. Lorna Boyle of

for a two week 'camp.

Ziontario Junior High Camp near
Priceville last week.
Scott McKini, Kenny Irwin and
Danny' Pritchard are at Silver Lake
Camp this. week.

Died At Age 80
GEORGE G. SAUNDERS
• George Gordon Saunders passed
away suddenly on Sunday, July 6 at
Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home,
Lucknow.
He was a former resident of
Ashfield, where he was born on
January 4, 1895, a son of. James
Saunders and Liza Jane Phillips.
On July 18, 1918 he married
Ruby Charlotte Ritchie, also of
Ashfield, where they farmed until
retiring to Lucknow in the Fall of
1957. Mrs. Saunders passed away
in 1973.
Mr. Saunders had been a
resident of Pinecrest Manor for the
past year.
He is survived by three daugh-
ters and two sons, Mrs. Ed (Violet)
Thompson of Kinloss Township;
Mrs. Reg (Freda) Broome of
Ashfield; Mrs. Ken (Lottie) Scott of
East Wawanosh; Gordon of Ash-
field and Lloyd of Chatham; twenty
grandchildren and fourteen great
grandchildren.
Besides his wife he was predec-
eased by a daughter Ila in 1934 and
a sister Mae in ,1937.
The funeral service was held at
MacKenzie Memorial Chapel,
Luckno* on Wednesday, July 9.
Rev. Glenn Noble was minister.
Pallbearers were grandsons Tom
Broome, Jack Broome, Donald
Saunders, Allan Rhody, 'John Scott
and Jim Scott and flower bearers
were Ken Scheerer, Ken Mott,
Jerry de Bruyn, Bill Gadke.' •
Interment ' was in Greenhill
Cemetery.
Wingham Grads
Hold Picnic
The Graduate Nurses of Wing-
ham General Hospital held their
annual picnic July 13 at Lansdown.
Beach Park, Kincardine.
Dinner was at 2 pan. ,with twelve
graduates, six husbands and a few
friends attending.
Miss Lena Robinson.of Lucknow
will be president and Mrs. Florence
MacKenzie of Lochalsh, secretary-
treasurer for next year.
Picnic for next year is in
Wingham Park, the second Sunday
in July.
A minute's silence was observed
in memory of Mrs. Sadie Finlay. A
donation, was made to Kincardine
Hospital where Mrs. Finlay was on
staff.
A happy time reminiscing of
training days and the viewing of
pictures was enjoyed by all nurses
attending.
