and the purpose repeated. The
minutes were read and approved;
the treasurer's report given show-
ing givings to date somewhat below
last year at this same time.
An invitation was received from
South Kinhiss, and accepted to join
with them at their , Centennial
meeting on July 9th at 2 p.m. The
roll call was answered by 12
member's by "A father of the
Bible". The Centennial repOrt was
,given by Mrs. Don Bushell telling
of the stamp honouring Dr. John
Cook, the Moderator of the 1st
Assembly.
The film "Southeast Asia", with
special reference to Pakistan was
shown. Mrs. Tom MacDonald
expressed thanks to the hostess
and those who had assisted with
the program. Refreshments were
served and a time of fellowship
enjoyed.

Mrs. Tom MacDonald and Mrs.
Ruth Wilson were conveners for
therogram .for the June meeting
heldat the home of Mrs. Don
Robertson. •
The study was concerned , with
-the growth • of Education and
Medicine in India, Africa, Taiwan
and the West Indies, _Mrs. Wilson
dealt with Educatiorland mention-
ed that Rev. ' John Buchanan was
the founder of a school in the Bhil'
area k in 'India. The Helen
McDonald School in Jhansi, , India
was another which bedarne quite' a
large one. George Leslie MacKay,
one of the earliest Missionaries
began the work in Taiwan. In the
West Indies workers in the sugar
field were helped by they
missionaries in `that area. All of
these countries used the schools as
a means of evangelizing..
Mrs. Don Bushell gave a reading .
entitled "Live" and the scripture
from. Matthew 25: 34-40 was read
by' 'Mrs. Alex Percy. Mrs. Tom
MacDonald dealt with medicine in
these four countries and' stressed
that love in the Christian Mission
should be uppermost.' Mention
was made of Leprosaria in India
begun by Dr. Taylor:
The city of Oshawa, Ontario
began a campaign to start, a
Pediatric Clinic in Niger, also an
innoculation program for measles,
and were successful t,in raising
$50,000 for this venture. The clinic
was named the "City of Oshawa".
A further scripture was Hebrews 8:
1-13 read by Mrs. Wilson.
Mrs.. MacDonald read the firtt
verse. of one of the -new hymns
followed by prayer and Mrs.
Wilson read, the next verse after
which all sang "He's got the whole
world in His hands".

The Dungannon 'United Church
Women_held a_speciaLmeeting on
Tuesday evening, June. 17, , to
observe the fiftieth anniversary 'of
church union. •
The order of service in the June
Observer was followed with the
president, Mrs. Graham McNee
reading the leader's part. Mrs.
Cecil i'Blake gave the prayer and
announced the hymns which were
accompanied by Mrs. Leonard
Reed at the piano. Mrs. Mary Bere
read the scripture.
Mrs. Lorne Ivers read the list of
ministers who served the Dungan-
ntin charge since 1925. Mrs. Elma -
Reed read the comments of the
Moderator, Rev. Wilbur. K. How,-
ard, on , church union as published
in the Observer. He stressed a
4-fold, approach - Look Back, Look.
Around, Look Ahead, Look -Up.
Mrs. Wilfred Pentland described
the church crest and explained its
origin. Rev. R. C. McClenaghan
showed a film showing points of
interest concerning church union.
Mrs. Jack Alton read the roll
call, which was to be answered by
a memoir, picture or article of the
time of union • or since. This
provided some very interesting
anecdotes and comments. Mrs.
Graham McNee commented on
posters and banners which were on
display:
Correspondence was read and
business was discussed. Mrs. Dirk
Logtenberg was appointed . as a
delegate to go to Alma College
later in the' summer. The meeting
was closed- with the Mizpah,
Benediction. A delicious lunch was
served by hostesses, Mrs. Lloyd
Hodges and Mrs. Clarence, Mc-
Clenaghan.
Mrs. Ken McObray, 'Mrs. Wm.
Grant and Mrs. Harvey Mole, all of
Lucknow, attended a three day
Horticultural Association Conven-
' tion, at Barrie last Friday, Saturday
and Sunday.
Garden Plots for families and
• Therapeutic Gardens were discus-
sed at great length. The guest
speaker at Saturday night's ban-
quet was Julian Porter, President
of CNE.

On Sunday morning. a three hour
bus tour was enjoyed by about
seven hundred delegates. They
visited the home of Earl Cox and
the Barrie Arboretum which is just
in its second year of developing and
where already there are many
plants, trees and shrubs planted in
memory of people and gifts from
societies. The group also visited
the tree nursery at Midhurst as
well as many lovely parks and new
residential developments.

meeting.on Wednesday, June j8 at

opened ,the meeting with a poem
"Little Things" and extended
warm welcpme to all. All sang'
Tight the good fight, 'Mrs. Wallace
Conn led in prayer. The scripture,
Psalm 85, was read by Mrs. Gordon
Rintoul and the meditation given
assured us that we forget that
prayer is two way. We must be still
and listen to God whenwe pray and
wait patiently (or the answer. True
christians listen and obey. Mrs.
Rintoul followed with Prayer.
Mrs. Victor Emerson read two
readings, A Note to Dad and The
Test of a Man. Mrs. Don Ross
played two selections on her new
electric organ. The roll call was
answered by a verse , from the-Bible.
containing the name of a bird of the
Bible. The secretary, Mrs. Dawson
Craig, read the correspondence.

Coulter. Also thanks for cup . and
saucer sent to Mrs. Johnston Conn
and Mrs. Frank Coulter on their
moving to Wingham. The July
meeting will be held at the home of

Mrs. Andrew Gaunt sang a solo
"Until 'The End". The offering
was received and dedicated by ,'
Mrs. Maime Caslick.
The topic was .on Faith„and was
taken by Mrs. Bill Rintoul. All sang
Faith of our fathers. Mrs. Rintoul
closed the meeting with prayer.
The Ladies -Aid meeting- was
held. A financial report was given
