Ri •p•ley The Ripley Women's Institute met at the Legion Bail on "-Friday, June 6th at 1.30 p.m. Dessert and tea was served by hostesses Mrs. Clara Courtney, Mrs. J. A. McDonald, Mrs. Elwyn Pollock and Mrs. Frank Scott. Institute members, will' be working at the Tuck Shop,' Kincardine Hospital the weeks of July 13' to 19th and August 10 to 16th. Silver Lake Camp picnic was discussed. Helpers who volunteered to work, at - the Coinplex Booth' 'for the Ripley Reunion were Mrs. J. McLean and Mrs. J. Gamble. Anyone else who can help contact one of these ladies. , The arrangements for the Hosp- ital Tartan Tea were, explained' by Mrs. F. pemmell. It is to be held ,on June 17th at the' Legion Hall. A talk on Citizenship and World Affairs was given by Mrs. Jack MeLean. ' She reminded members this is the year to' promote equality between men and women in the nation; to develop leadership as 4-H members and as Institute officers. She defined aims and, objectives by helping women to, get sound homemaking rules.. She spoke of mail-a-menu which can be obtained from the Ontario •Food Council. A repUrt of the district annual convention held in- Lucknow was also given by Mrs. McLean, one of the delegates. Some of the highlights were voting On the mileage question for Bruce Tartan officers and the resolution submit- ted by. Ripley Institute which was accepted and will be passed on to area. The offering was taken and the meeting closed by 'singing the Queen. She was thanked by Mrs. Frank Maulden and presented • with a gift. Mrs. Raynard Ackert and Mrs. Morgan Johnston favoured with a duet "Moonlight and Roses'-'. Miss Edna Boyle gave the .courtesy remarks and the meeting closed with 0 Canada and Grace. Limch was served and a social time enjoyed. The July hostess will be Mrs. Morgan Johnston. Elva Ritchie and Wilma Hackett had two weeks vacation in Western Ontario visiting in Vancouver, Red Deer (where Donna Ritchie works), Ednionton and Saskatoon returning home at the week end.
