Whitechurch Area Couple Mark 60
Years Of Marriage, Open House Sunday
Mr. and Mrs. Ben McClenaghan
of Whitechurch marked their 60th
wedding anniversary on Sunday
afternoon when family members
gathered and friends called to
extend their congratulations.
,Ben is the son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. James McClenaghan and has
spent all his life on the family farm,
about a mile north of Whitechurch
at the second concession. The
Whitechurch school is on the
corner of the McClenaghan farm.,
Mrs. McClenaghan is the former
Mary BarbOur, daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Barbour of West
Wawanost '
They were married at Bluevale
on June 16th, 1915 by Rev. A. D.
Thompson.
They have a family of seven,

Plattsville, Mrs. Stan (Doris)

New Lighting Proceeds
At The Caledonian Park

Work is progressing on the
installation of new lights at the ball
park in the Caledonian Park.
The Lucknow and District Kins-
men Club is installing the new steel
standards to replace the wooden.
poles which have been in use for
many years:
The cement bases for the
standards were poured on Wednes-
day night of last week with the
standards being erected on Satur-
day. Present plans by the Kinsmen
call for underground wiring and
advice is being sought from Ontario.
Hydro on this matter. If
underground wiring is approved,
the total cost to the Kinsrnenz.will
run from $3000 to $4000.
The lights themselves ,were
purchased from reunion profits last
Fall. $3500 was set aside from the
Reunion profits for the purchase of
lights and this is in addition to the
amount which will be spent by. the-
Kinsmen,
Lucknow Legion Branch 309 first
installed floodlights in the Caledon-
ian Park' 26 years ago, in. 1949.
Lucknow was entered in the
W.O.A.A. Fastball league at that
time which was successfully prom-
oted by The Legion.

Teake Witteveen has sold the
Lighthouse Variety Store at Point
Clark with the new owners taking
over Monday of this week, June
16th.
New proprietors are Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Pepper, and sons Mr.
and Mrs. Gordon Pepper Jr, and
Steven' Pepper 'of Point Clark.
Mr. and Mrs. Witteveen have
operated the Point Clark business
for 'the past 3 1/2 years.

Bryan Ritchie, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Harvey Ritchie of R. R. 3.
Lucknow, graduated from Ridge-
town College in Agriculture Prod-
uction and , Management at the
Graduation Exercises in May.
Bryan is employed at South
Peace Farms at Dawson Creek,
British Columbia.

and operated by Mr. and. Mrs. Ron
Frock of Kinloss (Blackhorse) has
been sold 'to Mr, and Mrs. Jack
Sticklend of Keswick. The hew
'owners take over this Friday, June 20th.
The Frooks, who have. operated
the business for the past five years,
purchased it from George Harri-
son. They will reside on their farm,
north of Bervie. Ron has been
employed for some time at Douglas Point.
Guelph Graduate
Nancy Walden, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Walden of
Lucknow; graduated from the'
University of Guelph with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in English
and Fine Art.
Graduation ceremonies were
held Thursday, May 22nd at the ,
University.

Arabian Stallion
Hans Kulle, who resides on the
Lucknow-Dungannon , road about
1 1/2 miles south of Lucknow,
recently- purchased an Arabian
stallion in Wisconsin, U.S.A.
The horse, "Chicot" is 6 years
old and is a ribbon winner to date.
He was sired by the U.S. arid
Canadian Nation-al chanipion
"Aramus" who is owned by sinker
and entertainer Wayne Newton.
Grandsire of the horse was
sold at an auction sale for $150,000
at nineteen „years of age.

Margaret MacTavish, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Don MacTavish,
R. R. 1 Ripley, graduated from the
accounting program at Fanshawe
College in London.
She' is now employed with the
Signet Food System Inc. in London.

Siegrist, has been sold to' William
Bogues of Chatham who will take
over June 30th.
Mr. and Mrs. Bogues will
continue to operate the business in
the variety store line. They have a
married daughter living at Kincar-
dine.
Mr. and Mrs. Siegrist have been
in business in Lucknow for the past
17 years. They •recently sold their
Lucknow, home to Alex' Farrish of
Ashfield and conducted an auction
sale of their furnishings.

Work •has commenced on the
project on the east side of the river
immediately south west of the
former Jack MacDoriald Garage,.
now the new fire hall. The area has
been cleaned up by Lions volunteer
work 'and, a bulldozer.
