The Lucknow United Church Hall was gaily decorated with multi- cofoured flowers, streamers, bal- loons and , posters when the Canadian Girls In Training cele- brated 60 years of organization on Monday, June 2. Mothers, daughters and guests enjoyed punch before the Potluck Dinner. Faye • Ann Forster and Karen Lindsay led in the singing of Grace. Barbara Loree gave a Tribute to C.G.I.T. during which the girls repeated their purpose and sang their hymn. At the conclusion a Mtge birthday cake with 60 lighted candles was brought in and everyone joined in the singing of Happy Birthday. Nancy Warren and Joanne Ritchie presented their leaders, Mrs, Laura Lee Ciy• ley" and Miss Elizabeth Ritchie, with engraved coffee spoons from the girls. The leaders also received corsages. Nancy and Joanne then led in worship with. Kathryn McKim accompanying the • hymns at the piano. At the conclusion each person's small candle was 'lighted and everyone joined in singing the 60th anniversary hymn. Mrs. Cayley spoke about the C.G.I.T. graduate, Dorothy Clark Kinloss Council Kinloss Council met on June:2nd at 7.30, the Reeve and all. Council present. After the minutes were adopted, the Court of Revision was closed on the Ackert . Drain and By-Law 11-1975 was given 3rd and final reading. The clerk was instructed to call for tenders on this drain, tenders to be in. by June 16th at 6 p.m. The road superintendent was asked to obtain price quotations from at least 3 companies for the S' 5" C.M.P. for the 25th sideroad near Concession 2. This price to be delivered. The clerk was instructed to' send the recommended changes proposed by Council to M. M. Dillon Ltd. in connection with the Zoning by-law. • The individual fee to the Ontario Association of Road Superintend- ents was ordered paid in the amount of $5.00. Study were given to'first year girls.. The group completed three studies this year, a Bible Study, Mission, Study and a third study of the' girls' own choosing and each girl received a chevron. The, third study was a babysitting course and for the completion Of this the. girls received wallet cards. Mrs. Laura Lee Cayley gave year end thanks to the , girls, their parents, other people who gave time to help the group with a career night, the history of the churChes and. the babysitting course. Fall plans were, mentioned 'and Mrs.. Nelson was introduced as a new leader: Leaders, Mrs. Lloya Nicholson and Miss Elizabeth Ritchie, were thanked for their help. Miss Ritchie gave further infor- mation on the 60th AnniVersary Jamboree to be held June 20 to 23 at Landon Bay Vacation Centre. Nineteen girls and two leaders from Lucknow will, be attending. There will be 1000 to 2000 C.G.I.T. girls and leaders at this camp. A fashion shpw skit "The C.G.I.T. Middy Through 'the Years" was commentated by Susan Thompson. Much of the history of 60 years. of C.G.I.T. and of C.G.I.T. groups in Lucknow was heard as music for each year was played. Those modelling middies were 1915' Lynn Elphick, 1920 Kay Morrison, 1925 Bonnie Clarke, 1930 Mary Lynn Cayley, 1935 Brenda Arnold, 1945 Pamela McIntosh, 1950 Sandra Henderson, 1960 Debbie Bolt, 1970 Laura Lee Cayley and the Space Middy was worn by Laurie Clarke, assisted by Kathryn McKim. _ Miss Helen Thompson was presented with the anniversary book "60 Years of C.G.I.T." and she thanked the girls for inviting her to the 60th anniversary celebration. The evening closed with Taps. Gary Foxton, R. R. 2 Wingham, rolled his car June 2 between Lucknow and Whitechurch, on concession 4. He was treated for injuries to chest, elbow and knee, and released. Investigated by Constable Pollard. Miss Jodi Jacina, Teeswater, was riding a Moped when the pedal apparently hit the ground, throw- ing her to the ground. S,he was treated for an abrasion to her left knee. Investigated by Walkerton U.P.P. Susan Burge, 14 Castle Cres- cent, Mississauga, was passenger in a vehicle driven by Tony Halden, R. R. 1 Hastings, when they came in collision with a car of Mrs. Donna Cameron, Wingham. The Halden vehicle was travelling south on Josephine Street, and the Cameron vehicle ° was travelling west on Charles Street. She was treated for a scalp laceration, and a right ankle injury and discharged. Investigated by Constable Foxton, Wingham Town Police. Lucknow C.G.1.T.
