Barbara is hard at work ,with her committee trying to get the year ,book completed, and everyone is writing tests trying very' hard to get out of exams. The exams start on Friday and run until next Wednesday with school ending this. Thursday for those who don't have to write. On Monday of this week the graduating pictures were handed out to the grade 8's, level IV and level V students. Since nothing else happened 'at school this week, -all that is left to say is, that to all the students and teachers leaving this year, good luck and to all those coming back, see you on September bid. lielyrood Browhie & Mother Banquet The Holyrood Brownie and mother banquet commenced by the giving, of corsages made by the Brownies -to each mother; Mary and Sandy, ,Brooks sang a, song followed by Grade which was done' in finger spelling by Sandy Brooks and. Caryn Nicolson. • Xfter a • delightful meal which was catered by Kinlough A.C.W., Connie Stanley toasted the moth- ers. L,ois Hanna was then called_ on to thank the A.C.W. which was replied - to by Mrs. G. Rhody. Brown Owl, Mrs. John Nicolson, introduced the guests, Mrs. Page, tester; Mrs. B. Hill, District Commissioner and Lois Nicholson, teacher of the finger' spelling, also the other testers Mrs. E. Hanna and. Mrs. L. Young who was also the cookie convener. The other leaders, Mrs. J. Barr, Tawny Owl and Lynne Nicolson, Packie were also introduced. Mrs. Barr was called on to give the financial report and Mrs. L. Young gave a report on cookie sales. She stated that 17 of the 20 cartons were sold and when completed the Brownies will have netted $22.00 for the Pack. Badges were then presented to the Brownies. Young and Marlene Murray. . • Brown Owl 'stated that now the whole Pack held the singing badge. Mary 'Brooks was called on to present a thank-you gift to Mrs. Page for all her work with the Brownies. Mrs. E. Hanna then presented testers and collectors badges to Dawn Nicolson and Craft Badge to Lois Hanna. Cathy Stanley then presented Mrs. Hanna with a little gift. Mrs. L. Young presented Lois Hanna with her Thrift Badge and Skaters to Cathy Stanley, Connie Stanley and Caryn Nicolson. Cheryl Smith presented her with a little gift. `Tawny Owl presented House- keeping Badges to Heather Young, Dawn Nicolson, Mary, Brooks and Lois Hanna and Cooks to Sandy ;Brooks; Heather Young, Lois Hanna and Dawn Nicolson, Renee Duiker presented Mrs. Barr with a thank-you gift. • Packie, Lynne Nicolson present- ed Book Lovers badge to Marlene Murray., Caryn and Dawn Nicolson and Writers to Caryn Nicolson. District CommiSsioner Mrs. Hill then presented Golden Bars to Dawn Nicolson, Heather :Young, Cathy Stanley, Connie Stanley, Marlene Murray, Cheryl Smith and Lois Hanna. Sandy Brooks was presented with her Golden Ladder, Caryn Nicolson with her Golden Hand. • After the commissioner said a few words to the parents on the meaning- of "Lend a Hand", the Brownie motto, Caryn Nicolson and Sandy Brooks escorted her into- the Brownie Ring where she was given the Grand Howl by all the Brownies. Then while Lynne Nicolson read a poem written by her on- the occasion of The District Commis- sioner retiring from 'that position,., Mrs. Hill was presented with a gift. The parents and. 'guests were entertained by Marlene Murray, on piano,- also a number from Lynne Nicolson; skit by Cheryl Smith, Lois Hanna, Connie Stanley, Lynn Nicolson, Caryn Nicolson; songs by Caryn Nicolson and Lois Hanna and a comic turn by the above 2 Brownies. /1 The parents and guests also joined in doing 2 energetic numbers with the Brownies, "The Alley Cat" and "This Way Ripley's Alive In 75 Ripley Reunion News 'Contributed . The pageant, "Memories of the Past"' is really starting to take shape. The production invol ves a great many people, who met Tuesday night for a first run- through in the Township Hall. ' There will be Boyd's Orehestra (Has anyone got the music for "There'll be a Hot Time in -the Old'. Town Tonight?) and a Choir led by Corrine Davies. Narrators will be Adeline Martyn and. Reg Moore. Looks as if you should be there early to get a seat. It will be held outdoors behind the high school. This will also be the location for the Paris Concert Band on Sunday evening. This brass ensemble will perform on the outdoor stage following the Lion's Beef Barbe- cue.
