NOON BRUCELEA HAVEN NEWS By Annetta Schilroth Our annual Ted and Craft Sale took place Thursday, May 1st, from 2.00 to 5.00 p.m. and 7.00 to 9.00 p.m. It was a lovely day, and there was a very large crowd. The ' Brucelea. HaVen Auxiliary looked. after' the tea and Mrs. Helen Stewart, our Craftroom Supervisor; had a most beautiful display of crafts made 'by our residents. Our ministers for the month were: Rev. Murray Lincoln, Pentecostal, Walkerton; Rev. Jam- es Weir, Presbyterian, Kincardine; Rev. H. Stevenson, United, Ches- ley. • We had our last movie• until fall on Monday, May 5th, at 1.30 pm. and everyone enjoyed it very much. On Tuesday, May 6th, we had our monthly birthday party at 7.00 'p.m. There were 13 birthdays in May, 8 ladies and 5 men. The Geneva Presbyterian Evening Aux- iliary looked after the program and lunch. Mrs: T. H. -Raton led 'in singing, accompanied.by her guest Mrs. S. Wattke on the piano. Mrs. Attke then. donned a kilt and contributed many lovely numbers on the accordian. The audience joined her in singing some 'of, the old favourites. Mrs. R. Cumming read an interesting commentary on the 23rd Psalm. Mrs. L. Sweiger and Mrs. E. Shopf lit the candles on the birthday cake, and with her assistants served refreshments. We had our first bus trip on May 7th. Ott May 15th the C.W.L. of Walkerton came and put on a euchre. They come once a month and bring prizes and lunch. Mrs. L. Weiss is convener. The Ladies Auxiliary of 'the Legion also come once a month and put on a bingo. They' visited us on May 20th, and gave lovely bags of raw fruit as prizes. Mrs. Eugene Miller, with helpers, looks after each bingo. There was a" large crowd and everyone enjoyed themselves. _ On Wednesday, May 28th, we had a bus 'trip to Wiarton, to Gateway Haven; to their annual tea and craft sale. It was a beautiful day and we all enjoyed our ride and visit at Gateway. We have a beautiful new bed of roses at the south side of our residence, made by Mr. Hussey and Mr. Hesch. The I.O.D.E. &Mated 3 of the rose bushes. It is a delight to our residents. Mrs. Schilroth, on behalf of the residents, extends to Mrs. Noll best wishes on her retirement. ' when they will entertain ' the A.C.W. groups of .the parish and the neighbonring Missionary Soc- ieties. Miss Ruth Thompson .of Lucknow will show • pictures on Africa. Donald Barr of Waterloo spent the week end with Mrs. John Barr. "Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hartwick of Kincardine on' the birth of their son on May 31st, a great grandson of Mrs'. Gertrude Walsh. • Mr. and Mrs. Levi Eckenswiller of London, visited during the week with Mr. and Mrs. George Graham and other relatives here. 25th ANNIVERSARY On Friday evening neighbours and friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Bushell on the occasion of their 25fir wedding anniversary. Hugh Lane • was master of ce'rernonies and expressed good , wishes nn behalf of the, gathering. Walter Breckles showed pictures of Florida and other local 'places. Mr. Malcolm Lane spoke briefly and also extended congratulations. Mary Helen, Judy and Karen MacDonald sang "Amazing Grace". Readings were given by Mrs. John ' Barr, Mrs. Bert Nicholson, Mrs. Delbert Hedley, Miss May Boyle and Mrs. Jack Barr. Bill Butt read an address in verse composed by Mrs. Gordon MacDonald, and Gordon MacDon- ald and Keith Mattlden made the presentation of a floor lamp, stainless steel tableware and other gifts. Don and Betty each replied fittingly. Lunch was served and a social time enjoyed. , Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Haldenby of Toronto visited over, the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nicholson and other relatives bete.. On Sunday morning, at the Anglican 'Church, Samantha Lee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Hutchison was baptized. Relatives here and those from a distance '•attended. Anniversary services were held in the Presbyterian Church on Simday. Rev. D. Kemble of Walkerton 'was the guest minister. The Junior and Senior Choirs provided special ,music with Jean- nette Barr as organist. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Boyle, of London visited with Misses Edna and May Boyle on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Clare' Spading, Allan and Douglas of Walkerton visited on Sunday with , her father George Haldenby. Mr. and Mrs. Art Graham' of Lucknow spent Sunday , evening with Mr. and Mrs. William Haldenby. The Anglican Church Women will hold their June meeting at the Church on Thursday evening.
