The Bruce CountY Board. of
Education is not getting sufficient
financial information from the
administration, Trustee. Lloyd Ack-
ert of Holyrood said at a board
meeting. Mr. Ackert is the
representative for Lucknow, Tees-
water, Kinloss and Culross.
'He commented after Roland
Swanson, business adininistrator,
presented the statement Of revenue
and expenditure for the first four
months of this year.
The statement itemized six items
of revenue and 12 of expenditures
listing the - year's budget, the
amount spent to the end of April
and the percentage of the budgeted
figure so far unexpended.
Expenditure's exceeded revenue
by $1,194,431 for the first four
months, a situation, that is normal
until municipalities get more tax
revenues in so they can pay their
education rates.
Mr. Ackert said the statement
should include comparative figures
for 1974.

"The. percentage of the year's
eipenditutes is .not relevant. If we
'are over the budget or under, I
want to' know why. This is
information that should come, from
the administration.
"If inflation or some other
external force is going to upset our
budget; I want to know ahead of
time," he said.
Mr. ACkert questioned what the
role of a school board is. He said
he repreSentS the public and should
have the information. •
"Am I the only one thinking this
way,'' he asked.
Apparently he . was, since no
other board member expressed
,interest in further information on
finances:,
Director of. Education John
Bowers said the administration
could give more detail, but it could
mean more' staff would be requir-
ed. He 'told Mr. Ackert that as a
trustee he would be welcomed at
