Craft Festival
Poster Contest
At the Lucknow Agricultnral's
Society's regular May meeting, the
craft festival posters were judged.
Since there were so many good
posters submitted, it presented a
difficult task for the judges.
In the Grade 5 and 6 division,
Sylke Becker placed first, Tom
Naylor second and Theresa Taylor
third. These three winners were
from Brookside School. Other
posters' from Brookside' deemed
worthy were Bernie Burgsma,
Kevin Alton, Steven Durnin, Jenni-
fer Drennan, Karl Morrison, Greg
Wilson, Kenny Good, Sandra
Pentland, Janette Brown; Carol
Ritchie, Barry Jefferson, Linda
Tayfdr, Michelle Dickson and
Sharon Sproul. _

During work period each Brown-
ie, along with Brown Owl, Snowy
Owl, Packie and Tawny Owl made a
felt swap for exchanging with
another Brownie from some other
Pack at the Revel Rally.
The meeting was closed with
Brownie Taps.

E. D. McKEITH
Ewart Douglas McKeith of
Vancouver, British Columbia, pas-
sed away on March 30th.
He isisnrvived by his wife Jean;
four daughters, Mrs. E. J. (Verna)
McComber, Mrs. G. (Margaret)
Fulcher, Mrs. J. (Alma) Gibson, all
of Vancouver, and Mrs. R. W.
(Olive) Heke of Abbotsford; 10
grandchildren, 9 great grandchild-
ren, one brother John of Hazen-
more, Saskatchewan and one sister
Mrs. Oliv.e Blake of Chilliwack.
He was predeceased by his son
Allan in 1942, who was with the
R.C.A.F. ' •
The funeral service was held on
April 2nd in West Point Grey
United Church, Vancouver. Crem-
ation followed.
Mrs. McKeith was the former
Jean Johnston, a sister of Noble
Johnston and Mrs, Wilfred Famish
of Lucknow, Wm. Johnston of
Ashfield, Mrs. Jim MacIntyre of
Goderich and Mrs. 'Dave Farrish of
Saskatoon.
,Rabies in animals in, Huron
County continues to be, • a prob-,
lern, The number of confirnied •
cases during 1974 was 39 for the
period. This figtire was '71 con
firmed eases for the same period
in 1973.
The 39 animals were comprised
of the following: bovines, 18;
dogs, 4; foxes, 9; skunks, 5;
horsei, '3.
During the past eight years, ex-
cept 1974, Agriculture Canada,
Health of Animals Branch, in co-
operation with the Huron County .
Health Unit, has sponsored free
anti-rabies vaccination clinics for
dogs and cats in the 'county. The
sponsoring groups have therefoie
decided to again hold anti-rabies
vaccination clinics in 1975, in an,
attempt to limit the spread of
rabies to dogs and cats from wild
animals, particularly skunks and
foxes.
All owners of dogs and cats are'
strongly urged to take advantage
of the FREE anti-rabies vaccina-
tion clinics which will take place -
from June 16, (in northern areas
of the county) to July 4, (in south-
ern areas). Please consult local
newspapers and radio stations
for locations, dates and times.
Rabies is a virus disease of ani-
mals which can be spread to man
and is usually fatal in all warm.'

the disease is an aspect Which
makes the disease so important
in ,public health. •• ,
To date no confirmed cases of
rabies have occurred in humans
in Huron COunty. This out-
standing record is majnly due to
the conscientious efforts of medi-
cal authorities and practitioners
in the county, combined with con-
trol measures • in animals.

The 1st Lucknow Brownie Pack
held their regular meeting on
Tuesday, May 27th and it was
started with Brownie Ring. Helen
MacIntyre was Fairy Queen and
the Sixers collected Brownie' Gold. •
