The elementary Yearbook , rep- resentatives held a meeting. . SECONDARY MANPOWER On Friday, the ,Level 4 and S. students had - speakers froni 'Canada Manpower in Walkerton come and speak to them. They told them about job opportunities in Bruce County. They showed a film otrhow to find a job. It was a very informative speech! GEOGRAPHY TRIP The Level 2 Geography class, accompanied by the teacher Mr. Turvill, travelled to the Mount Forest weather station in Mount Forest:, We learned a lot about how weather statistics :are taken and recorded. It was a very educational trip. B.I.A. Ten students from .our school went to B.I.A. at Chesley on May 27. Those competing were John Drazazga, Rick Clampitt, Mike Gallant, Danny Boyd, Randy Ack- ert, Laurie Coiling, Jane Messeng- er; Janice Farrell, Priscilla Zipfel ana Donna Gallant. Those students Who placed in events, were Janice Farrell, Who took first in Midget girls high jump; Jane Messenger who was third in Midget girls 100 metre and third in Midget girls triple jump .and the Midget girls 400 metre relay team of Janice Farrell, Laurie Coiling, Jane Messenger and Donna Gal- lant Who captured 2nd prize with .a time of 58.17 seconds. Randy Ackert placed fourth in the Junior Boys high jump. event. ELEMENTARY RIPLEY'S GRADE 7 AND 8 NEWS Reporters-: Tom Wilson, Heather Boyd., We held our track and field day on Friday, May 30. On the return trip they stopped 'at Rock- land where they all had ,a boat ride to the ,Thousand Islands which was much enjoyed. They -left here Friday 'evening, returning Sunday evening. Mrs. Oswald Rudi of London visited with her brothers Bob and Dick 'Orr on Thursday. . George Zusban and Peter Briscb of Thamesville visited with Ken Young on Thursday. Graham Moffat 'of Teeswater returned home from Victoria Hosp- ital last week. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wall of VVingharn formerly of Langside and Mr. arid 'Mrs. Paul Vanstone of Wingham are presently enjoying a tarp out west. Mr. and Mrs. Karnnstra of Holland, who have been visiting her sister Mr. and Mrs. Wally Weirsma this past four weeks, met the plane at Toronto Sunday to return home. Dawn Nicholson spent last week end with Heather Young.. The last Bible Study of the ' season was held at the . home of George and Linda young Saturday Annie F. McCreight passed away on Thursday, . May. 29, at Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Lucknow,- after a , lorig illness. She was born on October 12, 1894 in l3elfast, Ireland, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sinclair. Her, early Christian .upbringing remained with her' throughout her entire life. . On November 11, 1918 .she married Jack McCreight of Belfast, Ireland. One year later they came to Canada to make their home. A few years later they went to Detroit Where they spent most, of their married life. They were members of Maranatha Baptist Church in Deft:bit. They returned to Canada in 1957 and farmed in AShfield Township for a number of years. Mrs. McCreight was active in the Sunday School and W.M.S. in Ashfield Presbyterian Church. In 1968 they retired to Kincardine.. She was predeceased by her husband in November 1968, two brothers and one sister in Belfast, Ireland. Left to mourn her loss are two sisters Sadie (Mrs. Wm. Schaeffer) of St. Ignace, Michigan, and Minnie (Mrs. Preston) of Belfast, Ireland; a niece, Nan Barnett and grandniece Karen Barnett. Funeral - services. were held on May 31, from MacKenzie MeMor- ial Chapel in Lucknow conducted by her minister Rev. Cyril Miller of Kincardine Baptist Church. Walter Dexter, a close friend, sang a request number, Beyond the Sun- set. Final resting place was Loch al sh Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Craigie; *alter Dexter, Bill Ross, Ewan MacLean, Mac Boyd and Earl. Howes. The Ontario Government has set up' a progr6m of tax reductions on forest land.
