LOOKING BACKWARDS THROUGH THE SENTINEL FILES 10 YEARS AGO MAY 1965 A by-law of the Corporation of the Village of Lucknow was published in the local paper rejecting the sale and use of fireworks within the village limits. Provision was made in the by-law for permits to, be issued for public A mother coon, who had chosen a Lucknow chimney 'to give birth to four young coons, had to be smoked out of her temporary home. Mr. and Mrs. ,Eldon Miller were preparing the residence of Eldon's mother Mrs. John Miller, for her return after spending the winter in London. In attempting to light a wood range, Eldon found there was no draft' and discovered the coon family plugging the chimney. A severe wind, hail ''ind rain storm, that was described as a "baby tornado" cut a path of destruction thrdugh this, area. The storm cut across the Township of Ashfield, the Belfast area was DUNGANNON Mri. Marilyn Connell and Carol Anne of Gorrie visited Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Chisholm and family on Sunday. Mrs. Murray Oke of Scarborough spent a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Higgins. A meeting of the Official Board of Dungannon United Church took place on Sunday afternoon to hear ,a report from the Pastoral Relations committee. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Sherwood visited with Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Sherwood in Sarnia last week end. Mrs. Cecil Blake called on friends in Listowel and attended the funeral of Mrs. Arthur Hamil- ton in Atwood on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ott and boys of Kitchener visited Mr. and Mrs. Irvine Eedy on the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Eedy of Strathroy and Mr. and. Mrk. Lew Culbert. and Mabel of Stratford were recent visitors with Mrs. Heber Eedy. On Sunday her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Alf Denstedt of Milverton visited Mrs. Eedy. Pte. David Bere from C.F.B. Petawawa spent the 'week end at his home. Mrs. Jean Carruthers, Julia and Andrew of Goderich visited on Sunday with Mrs. Mary Bere and family.
