The Langside-Whitechurch
Y,P.S. held their meeting Sunday
evening at Chalmer's Presbyterian
Church Sunday School room, with
an attendance of 20.
The meetinK opened with a sing
song with Cecil de Boer playing
guitar accompaniment.
Father A. L. Nolan of Wingham
was guest speaker, telling of the
customs of the Roman Catholic
Church. He brought along articles
of the church to display how they
were Used. This was very
interesting to the young folks. He
was thanked .by John de. Boer.
The offering was received sand
dedicated by John de Boer.
Discussion was centred on Camp
Kintail and the adoption of a foster
child.
Grace was sung and lunch was
served.

Chalmers Presbyterian C.O.C.
met in , the Sunday School room
during Church service.
The meeting opened with the call
to worship and repeating the Lord's
prayer in unision. The scripture
reading, Psalm 105, 1-8, was read
by Clara Milligan. David . Ross led
in prayer.
The election of officers were,
president, Donald de Boer; 1st vice
president, David Ross; secretary,
Vickie Scott; treasurer, Clara
Milligan; pianist, Vickie Scott.
The roll call, My favorite spring
flower, was ,answered by 9 mem-
'bers. The offering was received by
Kendra Purdon and dedicated by
Eddie de Boer. The Birthday
Calendar was marked.
Mrs: Archie Purdon gave the
Junior story, "Celebrating One
Hundred Years". Mrs. Simpson
gave the Senior story, "The
Churches People". The meeting
closed with prayer.

week as debris is cleared away

fire and foundations were started
for dWellings for Mr. and Mrs. Ken
Bowden and'Mr. and Mrs. Howard
Godfrey on south gide of the street..
Mr. and 'Mrs. Frank Glenn have
returned to their home here after
spending the winter in 'Gerrie
Glenn's apartment building in
Lucknow.
Visitors with Mr: and Mrs. Robt.
Irvin on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs.
Percy Blundell of Goderich, Mr.
and Mrs. Jim Steele, London and
Mr. Will Irvin.
Angela and Arletta Glenn had a
few friends ' in, on Monday to
celebrate their fifth birthday, which
'was May 4.
Mrs. R. C. McClenaghan and
Miss Beatrice McClenaghan of
Newmarket were guests at a
special gathering for a 4-H leader
who has been giving leadership for
many years. The dinner was held
at Windermere-Muskoka and all
girls who had taken work under
her guidance were invited, also
others involved .in 4-H work.
Four generations were repres-
ented on Monday when Mr. Frank
Moulton's daughter Inez, Mrs. Ted
Howe of Kultos, visited her father;
accompanied by her son' Jimmy,
her daughter Judy and Judy's son
Bobby, aged 6 years.
Mrs. W. A. Stewart is spending
a few weeks • in Glamis with her
cousin, Mrs. Laura Greer.
Sunday visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Chas. Fowler were Mr. and
Mrs. Thos Fowler, Darrel and
Karen of Parkhill; Mrs. Margaret
Ball, her daughter Barbara and
husband, Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Sheridan and little Jimmy of
Barrie.
BRIDAL SHOWER
Many friends and neighbours
attended a shower in the United
Church basement for Sandra
Maize, bride-to-be. Mrs. Donald
Culbert welcomed the gathering
and announced the program which
opened with a musical selection by
Joanne Culbert on the piano.
Frances and Irene Logtenberg sang
and accompanied themselves on
piano' and guitar. Shelley, Rivett
played a number on the piano and
then . the Wedding Match while
Sandra took her decorated chair
accompanied by her sister:in-law,
Mrs. Roxie Maize, cousin, Debbie
Maize and sister, Denise.
Linda Culbert\ read the address
and Cathy Snider carried out' the
gifts. After the gifts were opened
and circglated around the group,
Sandra thanked everyone gracious-
ly. The ladies served a delicious
lunch of nut loaf and cheese.
The W.I. executive meeting was
held at fthe home of Mrs. Graham
McNee on Thursday evening.
Jim Stothers has completed , his
spring semester' at Waterloo Uni-
versity and is employed with Looby
Construction Co. in Chatham for
the summer months.
Mr. and, Mrs. Bert Alton called
on friends' in . the village on
Saturday afternoon.
" Mrs. Vera Errington 'is staying
with Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Webster
since coming out of hospital last
week.,
MrS. Olive Straughan came out
of the hospital Saturday and is with
her daughter Helen and son-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. K. K. Dawson.
Miss Barbara Blake returned to
Totonto on Sunday after a brief
visit with her mother Mrs. Cecil
Blake.'
