Northern Ontario spent the week

Mr. R. Des Roches on Monday
began his new job at Sarnia.

Sunday to Scarborough with Mr.
and Mrs. Gordon Campbell, who
had visited her last week, to spend
a few days with them.
At Chalmer's Presbyterian
Church service' Mr. Martin Bann
and Mr. 'Doug Campbell will be
representatives of the Gideons in
Canada.
Bible Study will be held next
Saturday evening April 19th 'at 8.30
at the manse.' All are welcorne to
come, and enjoy an evening of
fellowship.
Mrs. Annetta Jantzi and Mrs.
Elizabeth Clockrnan of Milverton
were Sunday 'visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. George Fisher and Miss
Annie• Kennedy of Wingham.
On Sunday Gorrie Y.P.S. organ-
ized a bus to go to the movie "Time
to Run" at Goderich. A few from
Langside-Whitechurch Y.P.S. were
among the 37 bus riders. After the
movie enroute home Langside--
Whitechurch Y.P.S. had• the group
go to Chalmers Church for a. sing
song. •
MrS-. Bev Kay was at a Royal
Bank meeting on Wednesday
evening in London.
Congratulations to Mr. and 'Mrs.
Neil Rintoul on the arrival of their
baby boy at• Wingham Hospital on
Tuesday, a brother, for Steven.
Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Emerson,
Darlene, Sharon and Brenda of St.
Catharines spent the week end with

supper held 'by the Young Peoples
Society at Langside on Friday
evening.
Services were conducted at the
United Church Whitechurch 'by
Rev. Miss Wilena Brown of
Toronto, who is interested in
preaching here in the country.
Mrs. Ted Rice presided at the
piano in the absence -of the
organists.

The community extends their sin-
cere sympathy' to Mrs. Peter Van
Osch, Mr. Van Osch and family in
the sudden passing of Betty's
father, Alex Becker of Mildmay,
who passed away Saturday, April
5th. The requiem mass and funeral
services were held on Tuesday,
April 8th in Aildmay. He was
predeceased by his wife on March 5
of this year. .
• Our deepest sympathy also 'is
extended to Mrs. Frank Doherty,
Mr. Doherty and family on the
-death of Isabel's mother, Mrs.
Nivins of Auburn, who passed
away Thursday, April 10th.
Funeral service for Mrs. Nivins was
held Saturday, April 12th in
Auburn.
Frank Doherty was admitted to
the Alexandria and Marine General
Hospital last week. We wish him a
speedy recovery.
Mrs. John Howard visited in
Toronto during the past week,
while her son Lawrence, a student
at F. E. Madill Secondary School,
Wingham, worked at the Toronto
Stock Yards as part of his school
program.
Several from this area attended
the Annual Bluebird Ball sponsor-
ed by the Knights of CnIumbus at
Saltford Hall on Saturday evening.
Proceeds are for 'the Canadian
Rheumatism and Arthritic Society.

A community bridal shower for
Ursula Courtney was held- at St.
Joseph's Parish Hall on Thursday
evening. A short program consist-
ed of dancing - by Lisa Fra.yne, a
duet by Lucille Frayne and Kathy
O'Keefe and a reading by Jeanette •
Hogan. Mrs. Walter Clare played
• "Here Comes the Bride" as Ursula
was escorted to her decorated chair
by her sisters, Mrs. Helen Riegling
and Mrs. Sharon McClenaghan.
Mrs. Antone Van Osdh read an
address to Ursula, after which the
bride-to-be opened her lovely gifts.
Also helping in bringing up the
gifts and displaying them were Lisa
Frayne, Jeanette Hogan and her
sister-in-law Mrs. Des Courtney.
Ursula thanked the ladies and
lunch was served.
