Lucknow United Church Worn-
' en' Easter Thankoffering meeting
was held on Thursday evening,
April 10 at 8 p.m.
The general convener, Mrs.
Eldon Bradley, presented a varied
and interesting program.
The U.C.W. president, Mrs.
Jack Treleaven welcomed the
ladies to the meeting.
A lively sing-song led 133, Mrs.
Alan Johnson, with Mrs. Harvey
, Houston- at the piano, opened the
program. •
Unit # 1 had charge of the
devotions, based on the Easter
theme. • Mrs. Harold Treleaven
read the scripture, followed by a
meditation by Mrs. Sam Gibson
with closing prayer by Mrs. Neil
'...:Kenzie.„ Mrs. Gordon Moth-
gave a reading entitled "Why
Thou Fail?" followed by the
solo "Something Worth Living
lot" by Miss Helen Thompson
With Mrs. Wes Ritchie at the piano.
The offering was received by Mrs.
Stuart Collyer and Mrs. Cliff
Crawford and dedicated by Mrs.
Bob Finlay.
Mrs. Glen Walden introduced
the guest speJter, Miss Lavonne
Ballagh of Wingham.
With Easter as her theme,' Miss
Ballagh presented an interesting
talk on the Easter "Miracles" and
especially "The Rending of. the
Temple Veil" after the Crucifixion
of Christ. Miss Ballagh developed
her theme to show that God's love
was revealed for all to see and
therefore open to all mankind.
Mrs. Robert Campbell sang "I'
Walked Today Where Jesus Walk-
ed" with accompaniment by Mrs.
Wes Ritchie.
Appreciation remarks were given
by Mrs. Jack Treleaven and Mrs.
Harvey Webster closed the meet-
ing with prayer. The ladies
enjoyed a lunch .and social, time
together, at the dose of the
meeting.

St. Peter's Anglican Church,
Women held their annual Thankof-
fering meeting on Wednesday,
April 9 in the Parish Hall.
Mrs. Harvey Mole welcomed
ladies' .from Trinity United Church
and Bervie and Kinlough Anglican.
The meeting opened with hymn
160 and the ACW prayer and
Lord's prayer. St. Peter's ladies
werei reminded of the annual
meeting .of the A.C.W. in London
on May 1st with Mrs: Mole and
Mrs. Cliff Roulston appointed
delegates. Mrs. Mole reported
several choir gowns completed with
the others to be made in the next
week or two. There are also several
banquets coming up so ladies won't
be idle.
Mrs. Fred• Page of Kinlough
favoured the group by singing a
solo and Mrs.Schuler of Bervie
read a poem "Old Friends".
The motto "Does our christian
life • really appeal ,to our neigh-
bours',' was prepared and read by
Mrs. Roulston, She asked do we
live in such .a way that people.
seeing us wilt say "See these
christians, how they love one
another. What they have. .I want".
She also gave a short report on the
Deanery meeting in Myth.
Trinity ladies presented a two
part skit on. "How not to visit a
shutin" and "How to visit a
shutin". Mrs. Ken Alton introduc-
ed the players, Mrs. Warren Zinn,
and Mrs. Blake, Alton and Mrs.
Alex Hackett and Mrs. A. J. Cook.
Mrs. Ernest Gaunt read the
scripture, Matthew 5t 2-12. and
Mrs: Tom Pritchard led the ladies
in singing "Thank You Lord".
MrS. Mole introduced the speak- ._.
er, Miss '' Ruth. , Thompson, who
showed excellent slides and spoke
on her trip to Kenya and other East
African countries.

The April meeting of Trinity.
United Church Women was held in
the church basement on Thursday,
with an attendance of 19.,' The
meeting, opened with the hymn
"Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee"
and all repeated the Lord's prayer
in ,'unison. The preSident; Mrs.
CharleS Wilkins; read a poem
"Spring Time".. The roll call was
answered with a` verse on Life.
WS. Doug Raynard introduced the
devotional part of • the meeting,
"How Big Is Your God". A hymn
was sung. Mrs. Allan Ritchie gave
a reading, "Who Made Earth, and
Sea and Sky", then read the
scripture, Isaiah 40,. verses 18-31.:
Guide me Oh Thou Great Jehovah
wasthen sung. Mrs. Raynard gave
the meditation. The deVotions
closed with the singing of hymn
Faith of our fathers and a prayer by
Mrs. Raynard. Mrs. Chester.
Hackett had 'the study book,
Mission and the Home and was
assisted by Mrs. Jim Arnold who
gave a suitable reading "Do It '
Now". Mrs. pill Andrew gave an'
article "What Makes A Child
Successful at School" and Mrs.
Marvin Scott led in prayer. Mrs.
Ken Alton was in charge of •the
program and read an article "Corn
for Starving Countries" which was
very interesting. The business
portion followed. A discussion
followed on the History Book we
are working on. Hymn, This is my
Father's world followed and the
meeting was closed with prayer by
the president. A social hour,
followed with a dainty lunch being
served by the committee in charge.

April 9th at 8.30 in Whitechurch
Community Memorial Hall.' The
president Bill Evans presided and
Welcomed the eleven attenders. '
The secretary Mrs. Bill Gibson
read the minutes. Man Falconer
notified the meeting that his new
house 'had been sold to Wm. R.
Purdon 9th, concession West
Wawanosh.
The financial statement 'was
given by the treasurer, Mrs. Bill
Gibson. Bills presented were
moved to be paid. Alan Falconer
presented an , application for water
for a new house he is building on
property between Wallace Milligan
and Bill Evans. It was decided to
clean the reservoir this summer

Take Course In
Babysitting
" The Lucknoy C.G.I.T. meeting
began `With games led by Irene
Reitknecht and Patti-Lou Irwin.
The • girls had a sing song ,
accompanied by Mary Lynn Cayley
on the guitar.
During the business a letter of
thanks' from Wingham C.G.I.T.
was read. Pamela McIntosh will
write to ) Marleny, the C.G.I.T.
foster Child. Marleny's grand-
mother, who cared for her and her
sister, died, in January. The girls
decided to have a pot luck dinner
for their closing evening on June 2.
An . article about. "60' Years of
C.G.I.T.'' was brought for every-
one to toread.
five-week Babysitting Course
from the Ontario Safety League
was begun. It's aims are to
upgrade the standards of babysh-
ting in the community, to provide
training for babysitters in, child
care, child behaviour and safety
and 'to outline the obligations and
rights of babysitters and employ-
ers. The' girls are required to
attend all sessions, do at least three
hours of babysitting for a other
and pass a test at the e f the
Course.
Mrs. Ernest• Ackert oust` fined the
first topic of Child Care and Child
Safety. Lisa Kaufman was the live
model for the baby part of changing
and feeding. The girls shared
problemS they'd experienced in
babysitting. Kathryn McKim
thanked Lisa and her mother and
Faye Anne Forster thanked Mrs.
Ackert. Each girl received a
Student Information Booklet.
Next week George Whitby will
instruct the girls in "What to do for
Emergencies", such as injuries
and fires. The meeting closed with
Taps.

Elect Officers
The April meeting of the Catholic
Women's League of St. Mary's
Church, Lucknew, was held at the
home of Mrs. Peter MacDcinald.
There were seventeen members
present and Fr. Dentinger opened
the meeting with the League
prayer. A business discussion
followed and correspondence was
read. Plans were made for, the
completion of the church improve-
ments.
The slate of officers for 1975-76
executive was read and is as
follows: President, Mrs. Peter

hour followed and a dainty lunch
was served by the hostess.
