The final card party of the season
was held at St. Helens Thursday
April 10.

Sproul; second high; Doug Miller;
travelling• shoot, Mrs. John...Finni-
gan; Oldest man, Wm. Humphrey.
Hogan's violin. playing set the
tempo for gaiety and merriment.
They were accompanied by Mrs.
Duncan Simpson and next was the
Irish dancing by 3 Scotch lassies,
Helen and Mary Lillian Simpson
and Gayle MacKenzie. Next Cyril
Boyle sang, "Bless This House"
and "You're Irish and I You're
• Beautiful" accompanied by daugh-
ter Marie. Then, with• guitar
accompaniment with her sister Ann
sang, "Danny Boy" and a Russian
Folk song. A skit by Mrs. Sadie
Hamilton was, "I Don't Want To
Play In Your' Yard". This was a
request repeat performance. A
quartet of •Father Ed Dentinger,
C.R., Dennis Dalton, Elmer UM-
bach and Cyril Boyle, accompanied
by the latter's daughter Marie,
sang "The Same 01' Shillalah",
"Peggy O'Neill" and "Seeing
Nellie Home". Harry Lavis played
popular Irish selections on the
Mouth Organ. Brother Carl Voll,
C.R., gave readings "The Legend
of the Blarney Stone" and "An
Irish Proposal", with other Irish
jokes.. Cathy Simpson danced the
Highland Fling with D. A. Mac-
Lennan accompanying ,on the
Bagpipes.
Charles McQuillin played de-,,
lightful tunes on the Flute,
accompanied by Basil Hogan on the
traps. Another family number,:
LiSa Frayne and her partner Lisa
Husk of Kinloss, tap danced.
Marianne Frayne sang "How Are
Things in Glocca Morra", "The
Kerry Dance" and a special
number written of the Great Lakes
Tragedy November 9, 1913.
Eugene Frayne sang "Sure, They
Called It Ireland" and "Mother
Machree" arid their beautiful, duet
"HoW Great Thou Art". •
Again the violins stirred the
intent and responsive audience
with lively - tunes. Mrs. Kinney
thanked , the guests and Floyd
Courtney read "The Irish Blessing
from the plate presented to Cyril
Boyle who wore the "Lucky"
Shamrock marked March 17.
The Town and Country Club
sang their closing "Theme Song",
ending a happy St. Patrick's
evening.
Ripley juveniles
,Lose Out In
Ontario Finals
Roger Farrell scored twice, and
Johnny Elliott and Courtney Liddle
- sawed- once, but the Ripley
Juvenile Hockey team failed to
contain the Ennismore Juveniles in
the third period in Ennismore on
Saturday night. Halfway through
the last period Ennismore scored
three quick goals, then with just
seconds to go tied it up. Late in the
overtime period, Ennismore scored'
again to make the final score 5-4.
Sunday afternoon, the boys
again started out strong, but ended
up on the wrong side of a 3-2 score.

Going into the week end games,
the series had been tied at 1 game
each, so despite Ripley's strong
showing, Ennismore won the series
3 games to 1 and came out as
Ontario Minor Hockey" Association
Juvenile "E" champions.
The , team and management
would like to thank the fans for
their great support, both'those who
came to Ennismore, and thos;w1io
supported them all year. • It was
great. Special thanks should go to
Jim Elliott, who has promised, the
team' a dinner at Sutton Park on
Sunday.

The Lucknovv. Town and, Country
Club's annual St. Patrick's enter-
tainment was held on March 18.
The Legion Hall was , decorated
:.with live and paper Shamrocks and
Irish hats. The entertainers wore
lapel Shainrocks. The capacity
audience was greeted with D. A.
MacLennan's bagpipes playing
"When Irish Eyes Are Smiling"
and other numbers.
Alphonse Murray, president,
opened the concert and the club
members accompanied by, Eimer
Umbach sang 0 Canada and •the
opening theme song. Mr. Murray
introduced Mrs. Bernadine • Kin-
ney, convener who welcomed the
guests and introduced John. Mac-
Murchy as master of ceremonies,
who in his own ,style, wit and
humour delighted the audience.
The first number was, the town
and country club. singing "The
Wearing of the Green", "I'll Take
You Home Again, Kathleen" and
"A Shanty in Old Shanty Town".
The verses were sung by Mrs.
Anna Johnston
There was no generation gap in
the program. Floyd Courtney gave
the recitation "Why We Celebrate
St. Patrick's Day", a research of
O'Curray's, a celebrated Irish
Antiquary from the British Mus-
eum `6th century" on. the Life of St.
Patrick and dating his birth place
as Bologne, Germany, March 17,

The Bruce County
Local Government Study
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS
The, Bruce , County Local Government Study is a joint undertaking of
the County of Bruce and the Province of Ontario. Its purpose is to examine
the organization and management of local government in the County and to
make recommendations as to required changes or alterations.
The Study will hold public hearings on:
APRIL 21st, WIARTON COUNCIL CHAMBERS
APRIL 22nd, KINCARDINE TOWN HALL AUDITORIUM
APRIL 23rd, WALKERTON COUNTY BUILDINGS, COUNCIL CHAMBERS
APRIL 29th, CHESLEY COUNCIL CHAMBERS
APRIL 30th, PORT ELGIN COUNCIL CHAMBERS
Hearings will begin each day at 1:30 p.m: Evening sessions will start
at 730 p.m. The purpose of the hearings will be to discuss the issues raised
in the Study's ReSearch Report. Everyone is 'welcome to attend and, those.
interested in partaking in the discussions are encouraged to do' so as time
will be provided for discussion periods at both sessions. Copies of the Study's
Research-Report are available at all municipal offices and public libraries
