Make Two 4H Clubs From Group

Is 4H President
Dungannon II 4-H club held the
first meeting on MondaY, March 10
'at .the home of Mrs. Howard
Culbert. Eight members answered
the roll call, "Why I joined 4-H?".
The election of officers was held.
and Dorothy Culbert was elected
president. Discussion, was on the
topic, "Planning Your Wardrobe
and Surveying Your Present Ward-
robe".
During group work they practis-
ed taking each other's measure-
ments. The next meeting will be,
held on March 17 at Culberts.
Busy Bakers
The fifth meeting of the Kairshea
Busy Bakers was held at the home
of Mrs. Clarence Ritchie on March
17 at 9.15,
The meeting was , opened with
the 4-H pledge. Laurie Clarke read
the minutes of the last meeting.
Each girl-took part in making one of
the main dishes. ,
Mrs. Ritchie diseussed a good
loaf of bread. Mrs. Mowbray
discusSed bread faults and their
causes, and Make it With Bread.
Sew 'N Sews
The Kingsbridge 4-H club held-
their 3rd meeting on March 12th at
St. Joseph's Hall.
They began the meeting when
the girls showed what their blouse
pattern and material loOked like
and why they picked it.. Mrs.. EYers
and Mrs. Van Osch read "Suit the
Occasion" and "Wardrobe Harm-
ony". - • Lucille .Frayne, Joanne Van
Osch,' Mrs. Evers and Mrs. Van
Osch' demonstrated how to
straighten fabric ends. Later on
the girls cut their patterns out and
pinned them on their fabric.
The next meeting is on March
12th at 7.00 p.m. in St. Joseph's
hall.
The leaders 'of 'the Zippy •
Trirtettes called the first meeting to
order and alt repeated the 4-H
pledge.
Since the club this year had too.
many members for one club, it ,was•
decided to break' into two' clubs.
In Trinity I the leader is Mrs.
Doug Cameron and assistant, Mrs.
David Hackett. The leader for
Trinity II is Mrs. Don Hackett and
the assistant,. Mrs. Arnold Camp-
bell'.
The election of officers in Trinity
II took place as follows: President,
Susan Irvin; Vice President, Lori
Dough Dolls
The Holyrood Dough Dolls met
at Mrs. Gerald Rhody's home' for
their 6th meeting 'on Saturday,
March 15th. Ten members and one
visitor repeated the 4.H . pledge.
They divided into three groups to
make Swedish tea ring, Cheslea
buns and Hungarian bubble ring..
The leaders advised the girls as
they worked. Plans were discussed
Or the 7th meeting on March 17th.
Dough Punchers
The last meeting of the Clover
Valley Dough Punchers was held at
the home of Mrs. David Elphick on
Thursday, March 13th; at 7.15.
The president opened the ',meeting
with,the 4-H pledge. The roll call
was answered by every member:
Mrs. Elphick demonstrated on,
how to , make Puffy Dutch Mini
cakes. Mrs. Connie-van der Hoek
showed how to make•Oliebollen, a
dutch funny shaped roll. Kendra
Elphick thanked her on behalf of all
the members. , Joan OSborne .read
the minutes of the, sixth meeting.
Mrs. Hamilton discussed snacks
and small meals. We reviewed the
basic principals in 'making yeast
and bread by doing a quiz. Both
leaders discussed Achievement'
Day plans.' The meeting closed
With the 4-H creed. Everyone
enjoyed eating the cakes and tolls
afterwards.

I took place as follows:. President,

Mrs. Cameron outlined the
objectives of the-club and the club
members. Mrs. Don Hackett
discussed the record book and Mrs.
Campbell showed what was needed
for a well equipped sewing box.
Achievement Day will be' on May
17 this year.
The leaders discussed planning
and sewing your wardrobe.
. We referred •to the Personal
Analysis Chart on' page twenty-two
and our leaders demonstrated the
proper way to measure. We then,
closed the meeting.
,The Meeting , was. opened with
1.611,, call followed by horseshoe
formation. It was announced that '
there will be no „guides next week,
March 20th.. , There will be'
volleyball practice ,Match 26th,
7.00 to 8.00 and April grid, 7.00 to.
8.00. •
The girls were dismissed to their
patrol corners to do badge work:,
Linda Taylor passed her last
tenderfoot test.,

Hackett went to Mrs. Jack Mc-
Kim's to be tested for their Home
Nurse Badge. '

Mr. and Mrs. Dave Bridle and
girls attended 'the ice capades' at
Kitchener on Saturday and also
visited with, Mrs. Bridle's parents.
Mr.. and Mrs., Wesley YoUng of
Lingside• and Mr. and WS.. Ed,
Wightman of Belgrave spent
Thursday in Kitchener and attend-
ed the Ice. CapadeS.
Beverley Bell and Lois-Hanna are
spending their school holiday week
in Toronto visiting with relatives.
Danny Martin spent the/ week
end with Marty and. Jamie Young.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bongert-
man visited on Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Urbain Blockeel of
Seaforth.
Mr. r and Mrs. Jim Lcivatt and
family of London visited Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. George Young
and family..
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Young and
Beth of ' Hanover visited with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley
Young on Friday evening.
Mr; and Mrs. Dave Bridle have
rented their farm home to the
Webster family of Teeswater.
They plan to move ,there around
May 1st. Mr. Webster is a teacher
at Wingham High School:
Two girls from this community,
Mary Bthigertman and Helen
Weirsma, were among' the candy-
stripers who received awards at the
Wingham Hospital on Monday
afternoon. Congratulations girls.
The Langside-Whitechurch
Young Peoples held an evening of
fun and gameS at BrOokside School
on Saturday with a large attend;
ance and reported a good time was
had by all. Sunday evening the
young peoples meeting was held_at
Langside Church.
Sharon Struthers of Lucknow
spent the week end with Karen
Young and Liane Young spent the
week end with Cindy Struthers.
SPECIAL SERVICE 8 Plans have been completed for
special Centennial Services at
Langside Presbyterian' Church on
Sunday at 11 a.m. We are indeed
fortunate to have Mrs. Sheila
Kirkland from Toronto, National
Co-ordinator of the Centennial
Banner Committee, coming to
share this service with us. The
service takes the form of "A
Service of Creeds" displayed
through. a Festival of Banners,
honouring creeds of the Christian
Church. . Mrs. Kirkland will be
bringing special instrumentals with
her and a soloist. Thisservice has
been conducted in, several. Toronto

Huron Native
Died At Brucelea
MRS. JOHN J. EMMERTON
Elizabeth Ethel Courtney, widow
of John J. Etimerton of concession
2, Huron Township passed away at
'Brucelea Haven in Walkerton on
Tuesday,' March 11, 1975 after an
illness of two and a half months.
She was:born in Huron. Township
on June 6, '1891, the daughter of
Harry Courtney and Olivia Nesbitt.
She married John Emmerton' on
June 27,1.917. They, farmed on the
eighth of Huron until 1929, then
Moved to the 2nd concession where
'they farmed and later retired.
Mrs. Emmerton was a member
of St. Lukes Anglican Church at
Lurgan, and was also a member of
St. Pauls Anglican Church in.
Ripley while living on the eighth.
She was organist in both churches
during her 'lifetime and worked
faithfully in the A.C.W. and Altar
Guild, and was a willing worker in
the community.,
She is survived by one son
Chester; four grandchildren, Clif-
ford of R. R. 1 Ripley, Betty (Mrs.
Richard Powers) of Oakville, James
of Walkerton, and Eleanor (Mrs.
Jack Findlay) of Guelph; one great
grandchild, Diane Enitnerton; two
brothers Sam Courtney of Brucelea
Haven and Harold Courtney of Pine
River.
She was predeceased by her
husband in December 1973 and
four brothers: Arthur, 'Edwdrd,
James and Gerald.
Funeral services were held from
McLennan-McCreath Funeral
Home in Ripley on Friday, March
14 at 2.00 p.m., Rev. J. R. King of
Kincardine officiating.
Pallbearers were Lloyd and
Mervin Courtney, Calder and Percy
Courtney, Bob Courtney and Wil-
liam Ferguson.
Those attending the funeral from
a distance came from Toronto,
Oakville, Montreal, London,
Guelph and Kitchener. •

former 'members and visitors will
attend. Lunch will be served after
the service.
