Ripley and' community were,
saddened to hear •of the sudden
passing of Bill Arnold on March 7,
1975 in Kitidardine 'and' District
Hospital. , Bill was _born in
Kincardine Township on January 3,
1900, Son of late Henry Arnold and
Mary Jane Geddes. From boy-
hood, his ambition was , to be a
,successful farmer. He farmed first
'on the Arnold homestead on the 7th
of-Kincardine near Zion and later
on the. Huron-Kincardine Bound-
ary. Upon retirement to Ripley in
1966, .he still maintained his
intereSt• in farming by operating a
pasture . farm north of Ripley. •
During his entire life, he retained
his' interest in farm organizations
and took an active part in such
things as Federation of Agricul-
ture, Folk Schools, .Marketing
Boards, Agricultural Society, Co-
ops.
Another deep interest was the
church, serving in various capacit-
ies at Zion United Church, Bervie
United Church and presently was a
member of St. Andrew's United '
Church of Ripley. His interest in
young people began with • youth
work at Zion• and teaching a Young
People's Class at Bervie. When his
health would not permit him to be
so ,active, he enjoyed supporting all
'the local sports' activities.
Recently he was an active support-
er of the Senior Citizens Group.
• In 1928 he married Gladys
McCosh of Huron Township., She
survives along with one daughter,
Joyce, Mrs. James McEwan of
Kinloss and three grandsons,
Jamie, Kenneth and Sandy. Two
brothers also survive, Henry and
Lloyd of Kincardine Township. He
was predeceased by one son,
Gordon in. 1962, one brother .Wilson •
and three sisters, Mrs. Wm.
Graham (Mae), Mrs. Thos. Colwell
(Tessie), and Mrs.. Otto 'Hewitt
(Rae).
Funeral services were conducted
by Rev. Cecil Carnochan on March
9th at St. Andrew's United Church..
Pallbearers. were Elson Arnold,
Leo Arnold, Edwin McGillivray,
Richard McCosh, Jainie and Ken-
neth McEwan.
Floral tributes were carried by
Sam Emerson, George Harkness,
George Eskrick, Roy Geddes, Lynn
Geddes. Sandy McEwan. Final
resting place is Ripley Cemetery.

Fred Fowler of Port Elgin visited
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Fowler on
Sunday. While he was there
another brother. Jim Fowler of
Sarnia. telephoned. John Fowler of
Grand Bend was visiting Jim in
Sarnia. so all four brothers were
able to greet each other on the
telephone.
Miss Joan Thompson of Goder-
ich' is spending a few days with her
sister and brother-in-law, Mr. arid
Mrs. Art MCMichael and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Otto .Jouwsma of
Wingharn called on .Mrs. Cecil
Blake' on Thursday.
'Harvey Alton's son-in-law. Paul
Henderson. had ligamentS torn, on
both sides of his knee in a game
last week and was hospitalized for
an operation. With his leg in a
cast, he will be out of play for' the
rest of this season. •
Mrs. Elma Reed returned home
from University Hospital in 'Condon
on' Tuesday after a stay of several
weeks.
Mrs. Vera Errington has been in
Wingham Hospital during the 'past
week.
Misses Patsy Anderson and
Janet Allen. of London spent the
week end with the former's
parents. Mr: and Mrs. Gordon
Anderson.
Gordon Smyth and Ben Mole
visited Bob Smyth at Huronview
last week and found, him feeling
better after having had a bout of

On Tuesday. March •1 1th the
Brownies met at the Town Hall.
Mrs. Greer and Mrs. Hamilton took
them by car to the Greet farm for a
tobogganing party.
Everyone had a fun time with
toboganning: snowmobiling and a
ride in a horse drawn sleigh. The
Pack then had a campfire and hot
dogs before leaving for home.
