It took six games to do it, but
Lucknow Juvenile' hockey team
finally eliminated Caledon in the
"D" quarter finals.
The, final game was' played at -
Inglewood, near Caledon, on
Monday night with Lucknow win-
ning 6-1. It was one of the better
games of the year.
Kevin Ackert led the Lucknow
Quarter final
scoring with 3. 5ingle markers
went 'to Kevin Murray, Murray
Thompson avid Ian Montgomery.
Murray Thompson had 3 assists,
Dennis Thompson 2, with single
assists - going to Ian Montgomery,
Jeff Taylor and Ken Reid.
Lucknow Will now meet Watford,
in the 0.M..H.A. Juvenile "D"
semi-finals in a best-of-five series.

Suggestions To Township Council
On Tuesday afternoon, March 4,
West Wawanosh Township Council
"met for its regular March session in
the Office of the Public Works
Building, with all Members present
and Reeve Lyons presiding.
The minutes of the February '
meeting were read and adopted on
motion 'of Councillors Foran and
Hickey. •
CouncillOr Stothers reported 'to
Council about the trip to inspect
tanks and fire halls recently
acquired by neighbouring municip-
alities, which was undertaken 'by
/members of„four local . municipalit-
ies. The municipalities visited
were Ripley,. Kincardine and Pais-
ley and 'the inspection trip was
made in connection with Lucknow
Fire Department's request that the
three Townships' of Ashfield,
Kinloss and West Wawanosh,
purchase a water tanker for use in
the respective townships., and the
suhsequent need for a place to
house the tanker.
At 2.00 p.m. the owners concern-
ed in the Gaunt Municipal Drain
joined Council to consider the
Engineer's i report on' the said
drain. Mr. A. .Clark, Engineer of
Wingham, was on hand to answer
questions and a large_ majority of
the owners. in the drain were
present. After a lengthy discussion
period, the Report was referred
back to the Engineer for revision.
A delegation of ratepayers from
the south' end of the Township who,
are opposed to the, idea of a bridge
across the Maitland River at lot 26
concession 4-5 appeared before
Council. They were told of, a
Meeting with a Ministry, engineer
.to be held Thursday morning,
March 6th, and that 'they could
attend that meeting if they SO
wished. The same delegation also
brought up a change of signs at
certain points on the Township
roads be made, as well as the
condition of the Boundary road
`between West Wawanosh and
Colborne Township.
The Clerk was instructed to write ;

Wingham Hospital
Cyril Campbell of Lucknow. who
will be 89 years of age in June.
underwent surgery at Wingham
Hospital' on Tuesday of last week
P for the amputation of his right leg.
Mr. Campbell has been a patient
in hospital for about two months.

groups representing about 20,000
persons uniting in. Winnipeg in
1925 and holding their first Unity
Conference there in 1926.
He said years of peace have .led
the Legion to concern itself with
community and national affairs as
well as with ex-servicemen and
women.
The organization has recently
opened its doors to the children of
its menibers and deceased service
personnel. Some 38,000 of these.
young persons have already joined.
Another feature of the anniversary
year will be a Dominion Convention
in June, 1976 in Winnipeg,. the
birthplace of the Legion.

To Visit Holland,
First Time In
Twenty-Four Years
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lanting of
Lucknow leave this week end for
their homeland, Holland, their first
time back home since coming to
Cariada 24 years ago.
It was in November of 1950 that
they came to Canada, later residing
at Galt, Kitchener, Bridgeport and
Preston before coming to Lucknow
in 1971. p
A baker by trade, Herman
operates Lanting's Bakery in : the
village.
It will be a surprise visit in
Holland where Herman's sister is
marking her 80th birthday. Mr.
and Mrs. Lanting will visit with
other family members while in
Holland.
Paul Henderson Is
Out For Season
Toronto Toros' left winger Paul
Henderson, injured in a game last
week, underwent surgery and will
be out for the remainder of the
World Hockey AssociatiOn season.
Surgery was performed on the
left knee for a ligament problem
sustained when Paul was hit during
the second period of Toros' game
against Phoenix Roadrunners at
Maple Leaf Gardens. '
Henderson, who'd scored 30
goals, and had 33 assists' this
season, will be 'in a cast for six
weeks. 'He had been back only, two
games after missing five matches
with pulled groin muscles.
It's been a hard year for
Henderson, who joined Toros from
the Maple Leafs this season. Last
fall, he suffered a severely broken '
nose and played , several games
with a mesh faceguard.
