Busy Buddies To
Assist Recreation,
To Attend Festival
The February meeting of ;the
Busy Buddies was held at 8.00 p.m.
February , 11 in the Presbyterian
• Church basement.
The meeting was opened by Mrs.
- Rae Cranston. Mrs, Barry McDon-
, agh introduced a prospective new
member, Mrs. Archie De Groot.
A valentine reading was given by
Mrs. Barry, McDonagh. Mrs, Rae
Cranston read from the scripture
and led in prayer.
The secretary's minutes were
• read and adopted as such • on a
motion by Mrs. Bill Moffat.
Program committees for the aim-
ing year were chosen. Plans for the
• upcoming visit and concert by the
Dominion Life Choir were made.
The guest speaker: for the
evening was William Hunter, rep-
resenting the Recreation Commit-
tee. He informed the group of the
situation involved in the Recreation'
Committee and advised on ' the
subject of where a donation would
be most useful and needed. Mrs,
Rick Jardine thanked Mr. Hunter
for coming.
After discussing what Mr. Hunt-
er had said, a motion was made by
Mrs. Bob Struthers that the group
make a donation of money, and
craft materials, both purchased and
saved from their own households,
to' the summer playground arts and
crafts program. • The motion' was
seconded by Mrs. Barry McDonagh
and carried well.
A discussion was held on a
proposed visit to the Shakespearian
Festival. A motion 'was made by
Mrs. Rae Cranston that the, group
attend the performance of which-
ever Shakespearean play is being
performed the evening of the
regular meeting night and that the
members leave early and dine out
before the performance. The
motion was seconded by Mrs.
Barry Mctionagh and was carried'
by the members present. The
Meeting was moved to be adjourn-
ed by •Mrs. Glenn Noble.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Rae
Cranston and Mrs. Rick Jardine.

• Marion Elizabeth Pedersen, wife
of the, late Otto Pedersen, passed "
away on. February 12th at Victoria
Hospital, London, where she had
been a patient since January 15th.
Mrs.' Pedersen, who Was in her
65th year, was a daughter of the
late Andrew and Jean (Cummings)
Stewart of Lucknow, where she was
born on January 1 lth, 1911.
She was a' graduate of MacDon-
ald Institute, Guelph. In Toronto in
1937 she married Otto Pedersen.
They spent most of their married
life 'in Lucknow. Mrs. Pedersen
was librarian at the Lucknow Public
Library for ten years, commencing
August 11st, 1959.
Following the death of her
husband Mrs. Pedersen moved to
London . in 1969, where she has
since resided.
She is survived by one daughter
Mrs. Hank (Anne) Becker of
London, one. son Jim of Lucknow;
three sisters Mrs. E. (Jean)
Whiteley of Peterborbugh, Mrs.
Ross (Bessie) MacDonald of Ot-
tawa, Jessie Stewart of Vancouv,er
and one brother Jim. of Toronto and
seven grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at
MacKenzie Memorial Chapel,
Lucknow on Friday, February 14th. ,
Rev. Glenn Noble of Lucknow:
Presbyterian Church was minister.
, Pallbearers were Tom and Alex
Andrew, George and Wilfred And-
erson,' George Joynt and Tony
Johnstone.
Temporary entombment was at
South Kinloss Mausoleum with
final resting place Greenhill Cem-
etery.
45th Wedding
Anniversary
Almost 200 neighbours, friend
and relatives gathered atTeeiwat-
er Town Hall on Friday evening,
February 14th 'to celebrate' he 45th
wedding anniversary of Graham
and Annie Moffat, 6th concession
west, Culross. Their family had
made all the arrangements for the
evening.
Graham and Annie were married
February 19th, 1930 in Teeswater
Presbyterian Church Manse by
Rev. Dr. Alexander -Forbes, and
have lived all their lives in Culross.
They have a family of four
daughters, Beatrice (Toots) Mrs.
Roy • McLeod. Guelph; • Winnie,
Mrs., Mervyn Conley, Guelph;
Bessie, Mrs. Farrell, Kincardine
and Marilynne at home: also nine
grandchildren who were all present
for the occasion.
During the evening they were,
presented with many beautiful
gifts, including a 'matched set of
luggage. a beautiful bouquet of
flowers and a purse of money from
neighbours and friends from the
6th concession and surrounding
community. . Their family , gave
them a 400 day, clock. They also
received many beautiful cards
including one from Crawford Doug-
las. tv1.13 .
Graham's, sister. Mrs. Bessie
Steel. Teeswater; his brothers John
of Culross and Peter and Lauretta
Moffat of Kincardine were all
present. Annie's only remaining
brother. Hardie Simpson of Tees-
water was unable to be there as he
and his wife are spending the
winter in Delta. British Columbia.
Other friends were present from
Kitchener. Guelph: Exeter. Bel-
grave. Wingham. W'hitechurch.
Lucknow • Gocierich. Ripley. Kih-
, cardine. Holyrood and Laneside.

Leny Maria, to Hugh James

Clare Johnstone, Lucknow, Ont-
ario. The wedding will take place
at the Church ,of Christ, Elizabeth
Street, London, on April 5, '1975 at
2.30 p.m., 'Rev. Eckerdt officiating.'

Resident Passes
MRS NEWTONJAMES
Mrs. 'Newton James of Leaming-
ton "passed away at Leamington
District Memorial Hospital on
January 22nd. Mr. James passed'
away in 1960.
Mrs. James was the former
Hilda Elizabeth Miller, wife of the
late Elliott Miller 'and was a
resident of Lucknow for a number
of •years.
She is survived by two step-
daughters Mrs. Beecher (Gertrude)
Fox of Melbourne,. Florida and
Mrs. Gordon (Betty) Buchanan of
Chillivvack, British Columbia; one
brother Clarence Campbell of
London and five grandchildren.
„The funeral service was held at
the Reid Funeral Home, Leaming-
ton on January 24th.
Interment was in Lakeview Cem-
etery, Leamington.

Council made a motion to make a
supplementary application to the .
Ministry of Transportation and
Communications for subsidy mon-
ies to purchase a new road grader
and municipal drain assessments in
the amount of $43,400.00. The
clerk was instructed to call for
tenders for construction of the
Moffat-Thompson Imp. drain.
The following accounts were 11
ordered paid: General, 1020:30; t
drains, 11,949.27; highways,
20,025.35.
The meeting adjourned until
February 17th at 8 p.m. or at the
call of the Reeve.
