International Plowing
Match Will Be At
Wingham In 1978
The farm of Jaines Armstrong of
Wingham has been selected by the
Ontario Plowmeres Association for
the, •site of the 1978 International
Plowing Match and Farm Machin-
ery Demonstration to be held in
Huron County. This was announc-
ed Wednesday morning by Howard
Datars, Dashwood, chairman of the
Huron County Local Committee,'
I.P.M. The Armstrong farm, is
immediately east of Wingham on
Highway 86 in Morris Township.

SPEAKING WINNERS:
The Lucknow Branch , of the
Canadian Legion No. 309 sponsor
an annual public speaking contest
for elementary schools in the
district. Students from Lucknow
Central, Kinloss Central, Brook-
side, North Ashfield and St.
Josephs School, Kingsbridge sent
their winners to the Legion compe-
tition last Friday night.
Winners are pictured,1 left to
'right.
Suzanne Catlin, 12, daughter of
Dr. arid Mrs. M. H. Corrin of
Lucknow, a grade 7 student at
tucknow Central Public School,
won second in the senior division.
First place winner in 'the 'senior
class was Mary Luanne Clare, 12,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.' Walter
Clare . of Ashfield Township, a
grade 7 student at St. Josephi
Separate School, Kingsbridge.
In the junior division, Marilynn
MacIntyre, 11, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Donald MacIntyre of Kinloss,
placed first. Shektttends Lucknow
Central Public School and is a
grade 6 student. Second place was
won by. Jackie Dalton, 11, a grade 5
student at St. Josephs Separate
School, Kingsbridge. Jackie is the
daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Mark
Dalton.
Diecl At Age 65
Thomas J. Moffat of Teeswater
passed away at Victoria Hospital,
_London on Saturday, February 8 in
his 66th year.
Funeral service was conducted at
MaePherson Funeral. Home, Tees-
water on Tuesday, February lltfrat
2 p.m. Temporary entombment
was in Teeswater Cemetery Chap-
el.
Mr. Moffat resided in the
Langside area for many years
before moving to Teeswater a few
months ago.
Propane Truck
Overturns In Ditch
A tanker truck containing about
1,000 gallons of propane gas slid
off an icy road and overturned in•
West Wawanosh on Monday after-
noon.

taken for treatment to Goderich

Hospital.
Provincial Police at Goderich
said the accident oc' currek,hortly
after noon on • the Colborne Town-
ship-West Wawanosh Township
boundary road.
Police said the truck was west-
bound when the driver lost control
on a stretch of icy road. The truck
was owned by Hotson Leasing Ltd.
of Grand Bend, and operated by
Superior Propane Ltd.,
Propane leaked from the over-
turned truck but posed no threat to
the safety of residents along the
rural road, police said.

Mull of the gas, police said, was
bled off before the tanker was
rightbd. The remainder was
pumped into a second tanker truck.
Police had no estimate of dam-
age.

Of 1949 To Again
Play At Goderich
.Lucknow Pee Wee hockey team
won the first Goderich Young
Canada hockey tournament 26
years ago in 1949.
To mark the 26th anniversary,
the Goderich Lions Club has
scheduled a game for Saturday,
March I5th at 7.30 p.m. .at
Goderich Arena which will feature
the Lucknow team of 26 years ago-
versus the Goderich team of 1949.
Here are the names of those,on
the Lucknow team of 1949. To
.date, about ten have indicated their
intention of being on hand for the
March game: coach, Bud Thomp-
son; Clare Thuell, Bill Fisher, Jack .

Fire raging out of control at noon
on Sunday completely destroyed
the Sunoco garage at Dungannon
operated by Robert Stothers.
The flames, believed to have
started from a spark from an
acetelyne torch, gained headway so
quickly that nothing was saved
except a van and acetelyne welding
outfit.
Lucknow and Blyth Fire Dep•art-
inents responded• to the call and,
though they could not save the

New Owners..Are
Natives'Of India,
In Canada 5 Years
Further to the story which
appeared in The Sentinel two
weeks ago, about the sale of Hall's
Red and White Store in Lucknow,
the new Owner is .Parshotam
Mehan, a native of Northern India,
who has been in Canada, with his
family, for five years. He
-commenced work in Lucknow this
week.
Mr. Mehan and his wife Kanta
are looking forward to life • in a
small community and plan to move
as soon as housing arrangements
can be made. They have a family of,
four boys, Uppinder 14, Rajinder
12, Rajeev 10 and Sanjeev 8.
The Mehans have ,operated a
variety story in Hamilton for the
past two years and Mr. Mehan has.
been a foreman at the Glendale
Spinning Mills. The family has
been at Hamilton for their five
years in Canada.
BAG WOLF IN ASHFIELD
Tim Hunter, left and Vince,
Austin, right, residents of the 6th
concession of Ashfield, shot a wolf
last week on the farm owned by
Raymond Hogan between the 7th
and 8th concession of Ashfield.
The wolf was close to Bernard
O'Neil's barn when it was brought
down. The barn is full of cattle.
Vince spotted the animal, and
Brown Smyth, a resident of West
Wawanosh and Dungannon for
many years and a resident of
Huronview, Clinton at the time of
his death, died at Huronview on
Monday of thiS week. Mr. Smyth
was 83 years of age.
A past Reeve of West Wawa -
after alerting his neighbour Tim,
they used the, aid of a stray Red
Bone. Hound in tracking the wolf.
The hound was later found to
belong,to Jacklin Farms at Amber-
ley.
Wolves are very plentiful in the
area. •
