The Citizen, 2000-09-13, Page 9PAGE 8. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2000. Water concerns mean business for Londesboro man na contamination.” Kipp is a strong believer that con sumers should look after their own water supplies. In spite of municipalities’ use of chlorine, Kipp said that is not the best way to go because there are sug gested long term effects of heavy chlorination. Kipp also said of the elements crit ical to life, water is one area people can take some control. It is difficult to be sure of the safety of food or air, he added. Kipp’s wife Reka said the increased interest in water purifica tion systems also comes from a gen eral awareness of health issues. “People are taking more responsibil ity for their own health.” For those looking for a home sys tem, Kipp visits, tests the water and details needs. Equipment can vary in price, depending on requirements. Kipp stresses that he uses top-quality items, not necessarily that which could be bought at a local depart ment store. His systems also include installation, filters with which to get started and a maintenance contract. Kipp and Steinson are also avail able to answer questions or respond to problems whenever they occur. Steinson reiterates their pledge for customer service whether in meeting maintenance needs or outfitting the home. “One size does not fit all.” ARC Water can be reached through several sources. Clean -water alternative With the increased interest in clean water, Arc Water of Londesboro is expanding. Owner Damon Kipp, right, welcomes Glen Steinson to the. business. By Janice Becker Citizen staff Business is booming. When the heightened awareness of water quality issues hit mid-western Ontario this summer, those in the business of ensuring safe drinking water were prepared to meet the demands by the concerned public. After 11 years in business, Damon Kipp believes now is the right time to expand his Londesboro-area enterprise ARC Water. Glen Steinson of Goderich has become a partner in the business and will be doing estimates, water test ing, installations and services calls as Kipp had done. After working at a Goderich bank for some time and as a part-time bookkeeper for ARC Water, Steinson said this was the right move for him and his wife Elaine as they wanted to stay in Goderich rather than take another bank transfer. With Steinson as a partner, Kipp said the business will be able to cover more customers, with Steinson focussing on the Goderich area. Currently, ARC Water has a cus- tomer base across much of mid western Ontario as Kipp prefers to keep the clients within a reasonable driving distance. Providing top-qual ity service is very important, he said, and that can only be done with a lim ited drive, one to one and a half hours. Kipp said he will go beyond those limits in some cases or refer the client to another trusted dealer. Started in 1989, ARC Water, which stands for agriculture, resi dential and commercial, is an inde pendent company which designs custom water systems to meet the client’s need, said Kipp. With many years of experience in the business prior to starting ARC, Kipp has many contacts within the manufacturing sector so he is able to purchase the appropriate equipment from whatever company produces it. The focus of ARC is point of use water quality. They deal with provid ing filtered drinking water to custom systems for large farm operations. The type of equipment varies from ultraviolet, a very popular selection for the destruction of bacteria, to reverse osmosis and hydrogen per oxide systems. The sale of UV systems has been better in the last three months than in the last seven years, said Kipp. “UV is the only way (to deal with) bacte- NOTICE TO THE TAXPAYERS OF THE TOWNSHIP OF MORRIS The 2nd instalment of the 2000 property taxes is due Friday, September 22, 2000.
