Grey passes bylaws At the regular meeting of Grey Twp. council held on Aug. 21, coun cil passed by-laws to assign names to municipal road allowance and to assign five digit property numbers to rural properties in preparation for 9- 1-1. It is expected that 9-1-1 will become operational on Sept. 6. Council passed a resolution sug gesting that the proposed 2001 board of directors for the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority be further consolidated by combining the appointment for the new municipali ty of Morris/Turnberry with the Twp. of Howick. At present the municipalities of Howick, Grey and Brussels are represented by one director and the representative popu lation of Morris/Tumberry/Howick is close to the existing populations of Howick, Grey and Brussels. A motion introduced at council to place a moratorium on new or expanding livestock operations greater than 150 animal units and on liquid manure was defeated in a recorded vote. Hullett passes numbering bylaw Hullett council adopted bylaws pertaining to municipal numbering at the Aug. 22 meeting. A bylaw to assign and/or change names of municipal road allowances for the addressing system and emer gency use was provisionally adopt ed. The bylaw to establish a civic addressing system, including a poli cy for the numbering of properties within the township was passed. A bylaw was passed to stop up and close the road allowance between Lots 20 and 21, Cone. 7 and 8, at the end of Wildlife Line. There were no objections to a sev erance application submitted by Hilligiena Nonkes on the condition that a survey be submitted, appropri ate minor variances or rezoning be obtained and a section of the drainage act be implemented. There were no objections to the relocation of the recycling depot bins to the Auburn Hall property. Council supported the recommen dation made by the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority that the ABC A participate in the proposed provincial groundwater monitoring network beginning in 2001 with additional participation costs to be included in the 2001 budget. Man charged with mischief On Aug. 27 at approximately 8:30 p.m. OPP officers were called to Turnberry Street in Brussels over mischief done to a vehicle. A 1985 black Suzuki Madura had been parked on the street in front of the Brussels Inn. Sometime within the previous hour a man had kicked the bike over causing damage to the gauges, signal lights and paint on the bike. A 24-year-old Hullett Twp. man has been charged with mischief under $5,000 and was released on a Promise to Appear for court in Wingham on Nov. 16.
