get funding
Though the money may only
cover half the costs, several Huron
County municipalities have received
funding from the provincial
government to help cover
restructuring costs.
The Huron East group gets
$561.661 of the projected
$1,094,649 cost to amalgamate.
Morris-Tumberry Twp. will also
receive approximately 50 per cent of
the total costs, granted $257,588 of
the $513,451 application. However.
Clerk-Treasurer Nancy Michie said
that percentage rises when
forecasted savings are deducted to
determine eligible costs.
The North Huron municipality
will be granted slightly less than 50
per cent of the application amount of
over $990,000, being given
$427,500.
"That is close to the figure we
were anticipating," said Wingham
and Blyth Clerk-Treasurer John
Stewart.
Central Huron was also on the
lower end of the benefits, granted
$469,500 when $1,168,500 was
estimated as total costs for
restructuring. Clerk-Treasurer
Rhonda Fischer said the three
townships are expecting annual
savings of $198,000 with
amalgamation.
Receiving the highest percentage
of the applied amount was Ashfield-
Colborne-Wawanosh Twp. with
$368,617 of the $548,489 total.
The Municipalities of Bluewater
and South Huron also received a
portion of the $3,193,216 offered.
